Find a way out. You spent a significant part of your life at work, you need to enjoy it for the sake of your health. Better to earn less but live more IMHO.

I should add, I used to work for a bank, I worked long hours and I was well rewarded for it. I left.

Wouldn't it just be a lot easier to just tell him that you are sick to the back teeth of his constant moaning and that you don't want to hear anymore of it and if you do you will raise an official complaint of your own. It might be uncomfortable for a couple of days but it might improve things for you. He might even move on himself!
