It looks like I've managed to secure a job after almost 6 months of unemployment (sole destroying and has really shaken my confidence) following redundancy. Ok it is only for 6 months, but perhaps that's why they have taken a chance with my transferable skills rather than only taking someone from the same industry.

Having had a really good interview the previous week I was positive I did really well only to be told I hadn't got the job which was a real disappointment.

Had an interview for a very similar job this week and while I answered the interview questions well I got a totally different vibe and really didn't think I'd done that well and thought I'd tack it up to experience. Only blinking got offered the job - completely weird and unexpected.

So I can now enjoy my half term holiday with the kids with a lot of worry off my back.

While now elated I'm now wondering what to do if I get offered the 10 month job closer to home with the possibility of better pay. I should know next Wednesday, when they have finished the last interviews. It's a good dilemma to have I guess.

For anyone in a similar unemployed position to me it really looks like this is a numbers game, I was a bit picky at first, but have really ramped up the number of applications I have applied for to a minimum of 1-2 a day depending on how complicated the application process is.
