Been posted a number of times before here on PH... But tomorrow I am having an Interview to be a sales executive at Evans Halshaw Ford.

Any tips or ideas on what questions I may be facing? I have some basic experience in sales and working in the motor trade, but I'd like a bit more of an idea on what to expect in my interview tomorrow? I have researched a bit into EH history etc..

Any advice and tips would be much appreciated! smile

Thanks guys!

Try to worry less about the questions you'll be facing and more about the questions you should ask. For instance, what does a typical day involve, what is expected in the first 6 months, what is the difference between your top sales person and bottom sales person, do they have any reservations about you, next steps etc.

Also, remember to be on time but not too early, be smart and smile.

Good luck!

For the questions you are anticipating practice saying the answers tonight out loud. Don't just think if they ask x I'll say y, actually practice.

It's good advice.

They'll want to know what motivates you, that you're willing to out in the time that's needed and willing to work your ass off.

Take it from me it is hard work, they'll expect s range of products to be sold, finance will be a big thing with EH. Good luck!

try and close them at the end of the meeting:

what are you looking for in the successful candidate? do you see those qualities in me?
what are the next steps? will I be part of them?

etc
etc

So had the interview yesterday... I met with the branch manager and it was quite an informal relaxed sort of meeting in all honesty. The manager basically said it was a way of getting to know me as a person and was just a basic overview of how the company operates and then a quick run through of my CV and past experiences.

All seems to have gone very well, hopefully hear back next week to see if I am to attend a second interview! Watch this space smile

A second interview for a salesman role? Pfft.

I've not had to have multiple interviews for years. Only time I did was at a company in which the guy was a wker anyway.

All the best with it smile

I know, being an apprentice sucks.

I have thought about getting into car sales but it would be so full of timewaters I'd just get frustrated lol

Aim for an independent specialist instead of a main dealer then, more about the cars and less about the add ons (But, in main agents they are what gets you the money). That's why I no longer work at a main agent, the focus is all in the wrong direction for me!
Good practice, but if you can talk to people and like cars (as in really understand and appreciate them) the jobs easy.

You must work for some crappy organisations in very junior roles.

Good luck OP
Yep!

In the US for a sales role (Software admittedly), you normally go through 5/6 rounds of phone interviews, skype interview, face to face day on site and a final presentation.

What's the difference between a sales executive and a salesman?

Genuine question.

Posh phrase, like recycling expert (dustman), director of first impressions (receptionist), and dynamic communications officer (call centre) wink
