This, why can't you go to the office and work?
If I went to the office without a computer then without access to the corporate systems I wouldn't be able to work.I struggle to understand how your manager can let it get to this stage without at least keeping you informed of what they're doing about it and, in fact, what time today to expect a courier to be knocking on your door with a replacement.
They really must be as useless as you suspect.

Any business that even employs even a handful of people should have spare laptops ready to swap out with failing laptops. They are no longer an expensive business asset- just a basic tool to do a job. I work in IT and it's fairly standard at companies I've worked for to ship a replacement out to a remote worker within 24hrs after one or maybe two attempts at remote support. The cost to the business in replacing and repairing a laptop is always far less than the cost of an unproductive employee.
I would absolutely tear the IT dept a new one if something like this goes on for more than a week, never mind two months. Please- name and shame the organisation.

I had this issue last year and it was escalated to pretty high up as I was working on a major project with deadlines we were already late on.
They sourced a temp one from our office in Aberdeen (I'm based in Sheffield) after much searching and sent it overnight to the office.
That was a vast improvement from a few years ago when I was due a brand new laptop and they tried to fob me off with one that a colleague had handed back a few weeks before due overheating issues!
Cue one embarrassed office manager who had decided that was a good idea
OP, just keep bugging people. They will have a long list of people needing stuff done so you need to be the one they want to sort out quickly and get rid of

I have had this a couple of times since Covid and our local office closing, so my nearest office is now 2hrs away. Previously we had on site engineers who could either repair your laptop or give you a replacement. Now if the phone / remote support can't resolve the problem we have the choice of either driving to an office and waiting while an engineer either repairs your laptop or gives you a new one, or get a new one overnight couriered to you. It seems to work well, although we are left to sort out any minor issues ourselves, as our phone support ain't the best.

Sounds like your entire IT department needs firing, or having the fear of god put into them at the very least. Too many IT teams forget what they're there for: to allow the business to function efficiently, and they get sloppy and arrogant because they think they are the ones with the power - and I say that as someone in charge of IT and Ops at my company.
For us, a broken laptop is treated as a critical issue because a dev unable to work isn't charging billable hours to our clients, so we're losing money for every hour they're sat there twiddling their thumbs.
Ours are generally OK but sometimes you do wonder. For us, a broken laptop is treated as a critical issue because a dev unable to work isn't charging billable hours to our clients, so we're losing money for every hour they're sat there twiddling their thumbs.
The other day I'd gone down to see our IT to get a new PSU and when I got there it was proper Mary Celeste stuff. Then another guy turned up with a fried laptop and we just sorta wandered about looking for someone, anyone from IT who could help. Eventually a dude emerged from one of the toilets. He wasn't directly involved with IT support though so he couldn't help. But he did know that the IT support crew had buggered off for a day of back slapping festivities. The whole team. All of them. They'd left the entire business without a single support contact for a day. I don't know what they were thinking...or not thinking.
Needless to say, as the guy with the fried laptop was quite senior, words were had and now they can't / won't be doing that again!

I think in this current way of working, IT dept. should always have a Plan B for everyone should laptops fail and if a new one is required - get it out to you within 2 - 3 days maximum.
Our AD accounts are on Azure now and when a girl in my team laptop was dying - I made her order a new one that day, it was dispatched next day and with her the next day, all she had to do is logon and it downloaded her stuff from the cloud. This is a laptop which was dispatched by a 3rd party in Holland, sent via DHL to Rep. of Ireland.
