I've just been informed that a company that interviewed me recently don't want to take me on. That's fine, as is their right. After the interview I wasn't expecting them to - I was missing a key skill.

Because they hadn't read my CV properly beforehand, they only found this out at the interview.

I ordinarily wouldn't dream of asking for travel costs, but £70 of petrol to travel halfway across the country for a job that I was never going to get, well it does stick in the throat a little and I've seriously considered it.

Needless to say the jobcentre have been useless too. Yes we can help you with travel costs, but only if you apply before you set out (no doubt to vet the position for suitability and recommend you get the fking bus).

Bit of a whinge there, sorry. However, on topic: even though I'm peeved and skint, I still won't be asking the company for expenses. They might yet want to employ me in another role.
