Hi I have also got the same interview coming up,I ve applied for hundreds of jobs for over a year now and this is only my second interview , so I am bricking it!!
I am supprised to get a chance as I am now 47years old, and I don't really think, I have the experience that you guys here have?
I have been employed as a multi skilled shift engineer for the last 10 years at a general hospital, but due to government cuts etc....this job is going down the pan fast.
My trade was!!!! a H&V pipe fitter welder, but worked In the maintence game for the last 20 years, any help re -interview, questions etc....apppreciated.

Siemens are actively trying to move the industry forwards and away from the halcyon acrobat days... Customers are getting VERY squiffy re H&S/Operations on their sites. Everyone is taking a long HARD look at H&S and implementing a raft of company legislation to cover their respective asses. The industry has rapidly followed the route of the oil and gas industries in H&S and believe me, all things considered, the easy part today is trying to work out the actual can/wtc address failures these days...

Just be yourself. Be determined to put yourself across, in the best possible way, for the interview, on the day...

Hi there

I've been reading peoples post on here for quite a few months now and you all seem a helpfull bunch so I thought I would sign up and post myself.
Im a City & Guilds qualified Plumber and my background is mainly commercial,I've been looking to become a Offshore Wind Turbine Technician for just over a year now and i'm having very little success even though I feel my Plumbing skills would enable me to work easily on the hydraulic and cooling systems of an Offshore Turbine. The tickets I currently hold are as follows.

City & Guilds Mechanical Engineering Services Plumbing level 2
Sea Survival
Power Boat level 2
VHF Radio short range Certificate
First Aid at work
CCNSG Safety Passport
Offshore medical

I am also currently studying for the 17th Edition elecrtical cert.

I would appreciate any help or knowledge available to gain employment as an Offshore tech.

Hi all, new to this forum so hi to all!

I have the wind turbine trainee interview next Tuesday but I too am a little unclear on what the technical assesment is and what the type of team task that you have to do - does anyone have any info on this at all?

I did my apprenticeship at Airbus as an Engineer and have gained IOSH Health and Safety, CCNSG training, Crane Operators Licence and loads of experience Mechanically (Hydraulics and gear boxes on drilling machines etc). I don't have all that much skills in terms of electrical so thin that will be my only weakness so far, but is there technical questions on topics for mechanical / electrical knowledge at all? If so is it stuff like Ohms law and capacitance etc?

Any help would be appreciated.

Many thanks

Gaz

Hi all,I recently had my interview at Siemens for the trainee offshore tech role. I got the call yesterday with a start date for next month! Absolutely over the moon as I first put a cv in about a year ago and have been trying to get in to the industry for a long time. As mentioned above you need to just present yourself well and have a keen understanding of the company, general engineering and most of all health and saftey as they are very keen on that for obvious reasons.
I come from a service engineering/maintainance/forces background but if you can tally your experience and make it fit their questions I don't think it matters hugely what you have been doing as long as it has been hands on.
Good luck chaps.

Looks like there will be a few new starters 28th aug,
ive had my contract and seem's to be an ok contract, saying starting wage 23k , but will be more with offshore and shift allowance.
ive gone site based which is 7 on 7 off for me, but ive heard could be working away from my base for about 6 months, so will get a taste of traveling tech life.
Cant wait to get cracking on the course to..

Where is your base windycity? I'm hoping once my contract comes through will be site based too at Gwynt y mor, 7 on 7 off will do me better than 6 on 1 off at the moment! I phoned the recruitment people the other day and she said that around 100 people are being recruited at the mo! Have you been told about the training yet i.e hours and where we are staying when training? Did you get your contract before or after your medical?
