Hi guys, I too had interview on 10th July and got my start date for 28th July so looking forward to starting now! Got my medical this Friday and should be receiving my contract over next few days so looking forward to the training now! Are you guys going for site based or travelling technician role? Hopefully see u in Newcastle end of next month!
Looks like there will be a few new starters 28th aug,
ive had my contract and seem's to be an ok contract, saying starting wage 23k , but will be more with offshore and shift allowance.
ive gone site based which is 7 on 7 off for me, but ive heard could be working away from my base for about 6 months, so will get a taste of traveling tech life.
Cant wait to get cracking on the course to..

Afternoon all

Seems like im not alone in being offered a job at Siemans in the last couple of wks! Could any of you guys confirm what sort of shift pattern Siemans work off for both site based and travelling techs. Ive received the email with the job offer but have no details as of yet. The site I applied for was Walney near Barrow but during the interview I specified no particular preference in regards site or travelling positions. Im leaning towards travelling tech. Is it 16 on and 16 off?

Me and my partner have just had our first child so I would appreciate any advice from any of you guys already working for Siemans.

Cheers

Hi I wreckon once working offshore you will be pulling in easily 30k as even at trainee level with 25% you won't be far off it. Ive got 4 days left at Airbus where ive been since leaving school, but think you get to the point that a change is needed otherwise you find it harder and harder to leave!

Has anyone got details regarding the accommodation and if we get a car when training? I remember them saying in the interview that we get a car for travelling too? What hours is the training if anyone knows?

Cheers Gaz

Can't speak for Energy Service, only Offshore Projects, so it will depend where you have been recruited into as they are completely different businesses. The shifts currently being worked by Offshore Projects (on my sites) are...

Installation 2 weeks on, 1 week off.
Commissioning 4 weeks on, 2 weeks off.

more priority for locality based folk to be brutally honest; but it give it a go, there will be many who shy away when the grim reality of an immersion suit beckons......

Used to be within the centre of town [we had a very nice place almost on the waterfront] but times have changed.
Car yes between 2 or more.
Hours 7-1700 10 max.
You will travel. How's your German/Danish wink Ever heard of Saddleworth Moor? hehe

good luck!

Hi there

I've been reading peoples post on here for quite a few months now and you all seem a helpfull bunch so I thought I would sign up and post myself.
Im a City & Guilds qualified Plumber and my background is mainly commercial,I've been looking to become a Offshore Wind Turbine Technician for just over a year now and i'm having very little success even though I feel my Plumbing skills would enable me to work easily on the hydraulic and cooling systems of an Offshore Turbine. The tickets I currently hold are as follows.

City & Guilds Mechanical Engineering Services Plumbing level 2
Sea Survival
Power Boat level 2
VHF Radio short range Certificate
First Aid at work
CCNSG Safety Passport
Offshore medical

I am also currently studying for the 17th Edition elecrtical cert.

I would appreciate any help or knowledge available to gain employment as an Offshore tech.
I'm thinking of doing the siemens level 2-3 course to try and increase my chances of employment, does anyone think this will help or could I be wasting my time?

All trainee techys start at £23k but all pay grades are being revised at the minute so likely to change in the near future.

I recieved my contract today. Mentioned the base salary of 23k but no mention of any uplift for shift working. It was all a bit vague tbh. Im to be based at Walney, 15 on 6 off as a travelling tech. Mentioned I would be paid for hotels if I work over an hour away from home, as I live in Carlisle im assuming ill be in hotels whilst working in Barrow aswell as travelling expenses to and from.

Im also assuming I have to use my own vehicle to travel to any site Im asked to work at?

Was going to ring the HR dept unless any guys in the know on here can shed some light on the subject?
