Wind turbine technician
Discussion
They phoned me and whilst not rejecting my services said they had filled their quota on the installation side but did say a few service vacancies were available at the moment and if I wanted to apply for them I had to do so again through their website.
They said to re-apply in october when these installation vacancies come online again.
did you apply for installation or service?

I applied about 8 days after the job going up to recruit for aug/sept/oct and that was at the back end of June and still haven't had an offer for interview.....but I haven't been knocked back either!
I thought the siemens job search website thing would automatically highlight candidates for other relevant positions rather than having to apply individually - the CV & CL you upload to your profile can be changed, but I don't think you can use differing docs for different applications, I could be wrong though.

i think you are right but to make sure you'll have to hit apply on any new vacancies to highlight your interest i think. To be honest the people I have dealt with don't fill me with confidence, i think their recruitment just now is a little bit all over the place. Hopefully they'll sort things out.I thought the siemens job search website thing would automatically highlight candidates for other relevant positions rather than having to apply individually - the CV & CL you upload to your profile can be changed, but I don't think you can use differing docs for different applications, I could be wrong though.
Good luck mate.

Hi, no height test for me but then my interview took place at an office not their HQ in Newcastle where I assume they have a mock turbine set up.
Usual kind of engineering tech interview with a competency test aswell. i.e. mechanical, spacial reasoning. I am not that experieinced though so they were maybe more thorough with me. If you have plenty experience I'd imagine a straight interview will be all.
Siemens appear big on company knowledge so learn all about Siemens wind power and a little about the rest of the company. The rest was just give me an example of this, what about working outside, what do you think the challenges of the role will be, can you travel (HUGE on this, you must be willing to travel or forget it).
Ask anything else you want mate, bit of a ramble!! :-)
p.s. if you want to practice competency or see what its about these days go on SHL's website or get a book off amazon.

I got a status up date reading : closed ~
Does this mean a recruiter has basically viewed my details etc and terminated my application Or is it that they've filled their quota, which was mentioned on here for that particular season? I here they are starting again in october.
what was the closing date of the vacancy? does it not relate to that?Does this mean a recruiter has basically viewed my details etc and terminated my application Or is it that they've filled their quota, which was mentioned on here for that particular season? no mate, about an hour. 3 hours seems excessive, get this book if you're worried about the tests, covers all sections http://www.amazon.co.uk/Pass-Technical-Selection-T... (i can't see the level being any higher than this for a install / service tech role.)
Have they definitely confirmed you will be doing tests?

Not sure, But I applied on the 20 of july for the august/sep/oct intake. Not totally sure whether my application/details are 'live' any more, in other words recruiters have deleted my application, Or like you said the job has closed.like i said i applied july 20, only recieving a closed status on my Jobs applied profile a few days ago, previous posts one guy got a rejection 3-4days after applying....doubt the length of time between the two means anything as we both have 'closed' on status in the end..
should i re-apply when more posts arise, or would i be waisting my time :S
cheers

The interview itself will last around 3 hours, and involves a group presentation about Siemens, more information regarding the nature of the work and the working hours / shift patterns. We will then hold an ice breaking exercise and then conduct individual competency based interviews.
Sounds ok that sparky - i'd say that at a pure guess, that 1-1.5 hrs of that will be their presentation on siemens and giving all the info relating to the role and then the remaining time be your ice breaker and interview etc.
Keep us all updated with what happens during your time there if you will.

Sounds fine, no doubt a half hour presentation, a cup of tea and a platter then ice breaker and interview, that will fly by. Just make sure you swallow this before you get there - http://www.energy.siemens.com/hq/pool/hq/power-gen... - also be aware they offer bespoke service packages aswell as the standard. The interview itself will last around 3 hours, and involves a group presentation about Siemens, more information regarding the nature of the work and the working hours / shift patterns. Only bit that maybe would concern me is 'competency based interview' does that mean the competencies in the job ad and asking about how you meet them or are they actually going to present you with a problem to solve
live there and then??!! I'd maybe call and find out.

I'd be persistent mate, nothing demonstrates your commitment to the role more than persistence. Why give up at the first hurdle if you REALLY want the job. Keep applying and improving your CV/ App, maybe even call Siemens and see the kind of CV / app they are looking for. You might make a contact out of it.like i said i applied july 20, only recieving a closed status on my Jobs applied profile a few days ago, previous posts one guy got a rejection 3-4days after applying....doubt the length of time between the two means anything as we both have 'closed' on status in the end..
