RAF CIS Tech (TG4) SAC here...

Been in almost 6 years, and although there are bad sides to the job (as with every job), there are opportunities to do things your average Joe never will.

We are going through a rough patch at the minute what with redundancies etc, but things will soon pick up.

PM me with any qs and I will answer them honestly. Sorry for the short reply, but it is nice and sunny here and I want to get down to the beach (based in Cyprus wink)!

Get down to the the AFCO! smile
Another TG3/4 SAC.. small world.

What section are you in. Couple of lads in GRMS came across from Cyprus recently, you might know them.

Where are you based Sherpa? And which army unit are you co~located with?

There's an Army unit where I'm based, and they seem to get it a lot worse than we do. In terms of living standards and how they're treated. Fair enough they aren't infantry, but from what I've seen it representative of the wider Army.

And who wants to fly? That lifestyle, that salary and all those women throwing themselves at you? You'd have to be mental wink

This thread has got me thinking again. Last year I seriously considered it. Lots of PHers gave me great advice which I'll dig out if the OP wants.
I was just looking at tickets for Fairford aswell - had some very good chats with some techs last year.

I got the feeling from the Afco thought that things were not great at that time and they weren't actually taking on any techs.

I actually think I bottled it, im honest. I'm another year older now too. I need to pull myself together and do it.

Nice one. Now learn this saying as you'll be hearing it a lot from now on, and will probably say it yourself once you've got your tapes:
"Thats' life in a blue suit".

Read up on current affairs, especially the current and possible warzones, have an opinion on what is happening. Nothing over the top though like 'lets nuke the bds'.

Well done on getting the appointment, but the hard work starts here. You'll be glad you prepared.

Again good effort, wish I was young enough to be doing it all again.
