Snow chains are a no-go on the OEM 19's, however i think there are chain sets that will fit on the OEM 18" Winter Wheel and Tyre package. See www.bmminiparts.com for details. The 18" wheels for the M5 are the only ones that will fit due to the caliper clearance.

Not really, if anyone has anything further they normally just wang it up here. As for warranties beyond 60k you'll have to check with Mondial / BMW Insured before you buy the car. The limit on new warranties is normally 60k but if its an AUC car this may be different seeing as you plan to extend. Nothing a phone call wont get to the bottom of.

The only options really were:

Logic 7 Speaker Upgrade
TV / DVD
USB / Ipod
M-Multifunction Seats
Heated Front and Rear Seats
Alcantara Head Lining
Privacy Glass
Full Leather rather than Extended
167 Wheels rather than 166's

The rest i believe pretty much comes as standard. Auto-Tailgate was standard on all M5's i think but the Auto Load Cover might have been an option. In comparison to the E60 the E61 came with more off the shelf.

I have the Electric tailgate button on the touring. Was this standard? And the pana roof (this was standard) other than that how do I tell if it has the logic upgrade?

I have an Aux socket in the rear centre console but not found a USB slot in the centre console yet.

Full leather is there for sure. What are the 167 wheels.

I have the privacy glass as the missus moaned when I got the car home saying it was a pimp mobile

I can't win!!!
You'll be able to find out if the car has Logic 7 by searching the idrive. Cant remember what heading it comes under but it is in there. Either that or count the speakers.

The electric tailgate was standard on the M5 Tourers.

There is a USB port (if you have one spec'd) in the lower compartment of the centre arm rest. Thats all you should have other than a 6 cd changer in the glove box (unless youve got aftermarket fittings). Its built into the front bulkhead of the compartment in a really obscure place. Just feel around for it.

167 wheels are the M6 style ones.

Glad you like it mate. Just get those hideous badges off! lol

Eddie, I've taken the JCT9 sticker off under the M5 badge but I really like the black M5 badge! No?

I will take them off the plates too!
Black M5 badge looks ok IMO, but it needs straightening out. lol

Maybe it is straight then. Might just the be jct9 sticker that making it look odd. If it looks ok where you are then thats probably the case.

Do you know how the Hill recognition system works or what it does?

thanks
You mean 'hill hold'? You get 2 seconds of braked front wheels after you release the foot pedal so you dont roll back.

The recognition thing is i think, when on a hill in D mode it should revert to 1st gear rather than 2nd like it would on the flat. Supposed to save the clutch.

Jeez is it two seconds? Tried it today felt like it held for a split second and then rolled back. Takes some getting used to then and the handbrake really is a must.
It doesn't work in N remember. There shouldn't really be any need for the hand brake so long as you are on the power within 2 seconds. Works in reverse also.

Yes of course not in N, I hit my fathers drive (very steep) and tried to get as close to his bumper but I kept dropping down and had to use the handbrake, I can see this take some getting used to.

Is yours a pig in the morning (cold start) when going into reverse? Proper jerky and kangaroo juice.
Nope! lol

I always leave mine running for 5 mins before i do anything, but no, never kangarooing!! The throttle can be a bit lumpy for the first hundred or so meters but all M5's suffer this when cold. Something to do with the Vanos ive been told.

Well must be a charachteristic of mine then as it's almost undriveable in reverse in the morning on cold start. I never leave a car idling as it does more damage to the engine and most of these performance cars were designed to be driven as soon as fired up.
There is a reason why these cars have a cold start process you know! You should actually leave the car at idle until the exhaust note and rpm drops to normal levels before driving off. This way the car has got up to the correct oil pressure for normal driving. Also, on these cars the SMG fluid needs to get to the right pressure for the gear selection mechanism to function fully, which is why you can hear the SMG pump priming when you first open the door. Maybe this is why its jumpy for you, it might not be ready to go yet. Sometimes this can be a sign that the fluid is low.

Have you noticed how the rev limit adjusts as the car warms up too? Look at the redline position when you first start the car (around 6krpm or just under) and watch it as the car warms through over the first 8 miles (approx distance needed to warm and M5/6 to full operating temp).

BMW recomend that you change gear below 3krpm when the car is cold (ie below the 75 degree spot marker on the temp guage) and not to redline the car until 85 to 90 degrees has been reached. Not teaching the sucking of eggs here, but its to get the oil up to running temp so it doesnt damage the engine.

No egg sucking intended there mate.

Eddie

Does anyone here suffer from a judder when pulling away from stationary in first or second gear(not that I make a habit of of pulling off in second btw) ? Really strange. I've had it in to BMW and they have said it is nothing to do with the clutch??
Have you read the first page of this (the bit under 'Clutches')? Check the 'judder' topics on there or use the search function.
