You'll regret it if you don't actually like it. Probably best to hang on to your cash until the right car comes along.

Only upside is you could score a good deal and take less of a hit at resale time but youll need to sell low again or even px at bmw when the time comes.

It's about as Marmite as it gets, but I actually like it.

Walnut works well with that light leather but is too dull with black.

For me, far more desirable than black/black/aluminium, but probably not the majority choice.

Mine has now been serviced, new rear tyres and professionally detailed so is ready for its new owner. Will be coming soon to a dealer near you.

Someone is getting a proper sorted car I can tell you that.

its either a V10 again from BMW or a C63 from an indie. i dont know what it is but i feel alot more confident buying a C63 from an indie, i guess its because i know how fragile the M5 can be (ok i know its robust but i havent heard of inherant issues with the C63 like the clutch etc)

anyway, how are you finding it? does it have weak points? how do the two compare? forgive me if you have already written a full comparison, if so could you point me in its direction?

thanks.

can some explain the price disparity here? i mean, aside from the mileage, but 25k miles doesnt equate to another £5k on the value of the car does it?

In a nutshell, the C63 feels like you can abuse it day and night and it'll keep on asking for more. The M5 was also a car you could hammer but it always niggled me that it could be expensively fragile if overcooked. No dramas like that with AMG. Its a muscle car but with some thought behind it. I love it. Especially now im running 520+bhp thanks to a retune.

Just go for as new a car as you can get and make sure you find one with the Performance Pack Plus. LSD is more a nice to have in mu experience so dont be put off by a car without one

the performance plus is that essential? does it make that much difference?

Yeah, it really is night and day vs standard engine. More free revving and it feels quicker.

strange and possibly dumb question but anyone that has driven both the E61 M5 and the E60 M5, do they feel any different from a handling or performance perspective? having owned both a E63 M6 and an E60 M5 previously, i cant say i noticed any difference in performance. certainly do with perception of size, the M6 felt HUGE on the road in comparison.

Do you guys think this one is a bit of a gamble as its never had clutch/fly or smg pump renewed, or no evidence of the above being renewed. The owner says it drives perfectly with no judder hot or cold.
I have never seen another with so many options, the buttons on the centre console ! Normally their are a few blanks but this one has ventilated front seats also.

Thanks

They all drive fine until they decide they need ££££ spent on them. Thats the thing with auto adjusting clutches. No warning!! The price should reflect the fact it'll need doing soon.

Do you think its overpriced ? Its been for sale for well over a month so i guess it is over priced. My E39 M5 sold within hrs to the 1st person for bang on asking price, it goes in the next few days, looking forward to E60 M5 ownership, thanks for all the info on this thread.

Everything in the world is overpriced. Trouble is the only scale to measure by how much is the amount that you finally get discounted off the sticker value. Itll probably be a case of agreeing a 50% of the clutch job value off the price of the car. That way you both accept some responsibility for the fact it's going to need work done soon. Dont buy if there's no budge. Dont be impatient as there are more cars out there.

That one could be about to enter an expensive period in it's life but as it's under 60k miles I would be tempted to get it and buy the BMW Full Warranty on a monthly basis. I'd make an offer based on the fact it'll probably need a clutch sooner rather than later.

Mine had it's clutch replaced at 59k miles for info so you might have 3k miles left smile

Cheers,

Phil

He said his last E60 M5 he sold at 88k on the original clutch. Seems like a nice guy spoke to him at length, the advert does say poss had a clutch at 30k but can't proove it. I'm not set on it but it seems like a nice example talking to the owner. I rang about another 2005 model with replacement clutch, fly & smg pump within last 2000 miles, cars on 59k with bmw monthly warranty but it doesn't have the options i'm after, thats £15995 he ordered a new F10 M5 & is an enthusiast owning the E34 & E39 M5 before. I'll just have to wait until the right one comes up.

Have you had a go in one? I think I saw from your other posts that you are in Kent so you are welcome to come over for a ride in mine if you like, I'm near Ashford.

It's higher mileage than you are looking at but it'll give you an idea of how they wear smile

Cheers,

Phil
