Just checked your profile, thats Andy's old M5 that you have. Seen the car before when Andy had it but not been in it. What did you have before & how are you liking the SMG. A guy called MikeM from Folkestone is buying my E39 M5 over on 5seriesforum.

Yep, bought it off Andy earlier this month smile

I had a C55 immediately before this and the SMG is no problem as I've had something similar previously in a CSL.

Cheers,

Phil

having a bit of sport with BMW at present. they have a nice E60 M5 (Full AUC) at 58k miles for just under £20k. that in my opinion is well priced. however, no evidence of the clutch being replaced and the front discs and pads are required to be replaced in the next 6k miles, which with the type of milage i do is 3/4 months.

i havent driven the car yet, i would suggest that the clutch is fine and no noticeable wear or impending failure. HOWEVER, i would not feel comofortable buying the car in its present state as i would suggest the clutch would be due to be replaced imminently.

now they have offered to change the clutch (inc fly wheel) on the car and the front brakes at cost and add the cost of this onto the value of the car.

cost of the clutch, roughly £2400.

does this sound reasonable as a cost price? i thought that was the retail price for BMW E60 M5 clutch replacement?

what do you think of the deal? it is a very nice interlagos blue saloon, good spec too.

OEM clutch is ~£500, same for flywheel. BMW overinflate their parts prices massively, £2400 is about what I paid for replacement on mine.

Thing is, they'll insist on using "genuine BMW parts" to keep the AUC warranty, even though the OEM parts are identical (just don't come in a BMW box.)

looking at two M5's at the minute, one car is a January 2007 build 56 plate and the other is a March 2007 07 plate.

as they are both "07 build" cars, are they both facelift models?

thanks

Quite easy to spot:

LED rear lights are LCI and interior door handles different. Also, centre console has storage compartment on LCI.

I've just bought an Eisenmann race exhaust for my E61. Well, it'll solve the problem of having two stty looking pipes coming out of the back, anyway.

congrats, amazing sounding exhaust. full system? ebay job or new? interested to know how much these are going for now.

one of my favourite youtube videos is of the interlagos blue E60 accelerating away from the camera with the eisenmann race exhaust, incredible sound.

Just from the cats back I think, not a full system. Looks and sounds awesome though, and is much better than the stupid bloody pipes the last place put on.

That looks excellent! Exactly the ones I would have chosen, the oversize oval pipes are perfect and trust the sound is cloud9

After over 4 yrs with an E39 M5 I have made the change to an E60 M5 as of yesterday. My only dislike is the SMG box but I'm hoping after a few weeks of driving I will learn to like the SMG . Also the I drive seems very complicated coming from an e39. I am reading the owners manual from cover to cover !
My E39 felt like a go cart in comparison and felt like I could drive it quicker point to point on B roads, I need to get used to the E60 I think.
On the plus side I love the styling, the comfort, the kids prefer it as more space in the rear & they love the window blind & cup holders in the rear. Mine has the full leather covering the top of the dash etc and I must say its a really nice option to have. The seats are much better than the E39 , it's got active seats which are a bit pointless but good fun. HUD is useful.
The ride quality is superior to E39. Boot space is bigger also which is a plus. Have through load which will be very useful as didn't have this on my E39.
The V10 sound is nice but I had Eisenman on my E39 which sounded fantastic.

In short I'm very pleased with my E60 purchase but need to gel with the SMG but I can see now why everybody raves about the E39 M5 so much because for an old car it was amazing but I needed to move on to something more modern.

Cheers
Simon

£775 delivered from eBay. Far more palatable than spending £2000+ on a new Eisenmann system.

No doubt would have been cheaper to get Contigo's mate to sort my originals out (as I should have done originally) but I quite like the oversized oval shape rather than the standard round jobbies.

I have the OEM Winter wheel and tyre package available if anyone is looking, or knows anyone who is. I'll advertise them in a couple of weeks, but thought I'd put the word out on here first. Get in touch if you're interested.

Here you go.

Managed to get one done in the end. Sounds oddly muted though, think the GoPro must have been mounted oddly (on my back bumper)

That's a great sound gazchap. If you think that's muted it must be amazing in the flesh.
