There were 480 Cecco's available in Misano Red, Nogaro Silver and Macao Blue and 25 Booby R's all in Macao. These cars were basically catalysed Evo II's with added equipment.
Different motors though, no?From http://www.bmwmregistry.com/model_faq.php?id=8
"A second catalyst-equipped version of the S14 was introduced on the E30 M3 Cecotto/Ravaglia special editions in April, 1989. This engine produces 215 hp (DIN) at 6,750 rpm and 170 lb/ft of torque at 4,600 rpm. The increased power is largely due to a reprogramming of the Bosch Digital Motor Electronics (DME). This engine also became the standard European-spec E30 M3 engine as of September, 1989 production.
The most powerful evolution of the 2.3-liter S14 was introduced in the M3 Evolution II starting in March, 1988. Changes included new pistons that raised the compression to 11:1 (from 10.5:1), a more effecient air intake, lightened flywheel and reprogrammed engine management. This non-catalyst powerplant is rated at 220 hp (DIN) at 6,750 rpm and 181 lb/ft of torque at 4,750 rpm. These engines have white cam covers with the tri-color Motorpsort logo painted on them."

Just doing some further reading. The late model 2.3 has a compression ratio of 10.5:1 compared to the Evo II's 11:1, so they aren't the same? Different pistons and slightly different head from what I can gather (plus lightened flywheel as Sport Evo). The E2 headers also have a larger diameter than the 215bhp 2.3L (with CAT) and shares the same part number as the Gruppe A version:

This is all assuming what you read on the net is true

Yes sorry, memory fail. Lighter flywheel and different piston but same cylinder head.
BMW ETK cross ref these dates with production dates of E1, E2, Cecco's/RR's and 215bhp cars.
The main change from the 195ps cat/200ps non-cat to the Evo2 and late spec '89on engines was the inlet ports were enlarged from 26mm to 28mm and the throttle bodies went from 46mm to 48mm. The Evo 2 was non cat and ran 11:1 compression on 97RON minimum (leaded back then), the compression was reduced to 10.5:1 for the '89 on engines to allow the use of unleaded for cat compatability. There was also a change to the airfilter box inlet.
The Sport Evo engines have the same ports with larger inlet valves 38.5mm v 37mm and sodium filled exhaust vales, probably for homologation purposes. The Sport Evo has a larger exhaust manifold primaries 55mm v 50mm, again probably for homologation purposes.
The Sport Evo engines also (obviously) have a longer stroke 87mm v 84mm, bigger bore 95mm v 93.4mm and oil squirters for the piston, again probably for homologation purposes. BMW MS did a lot of work to reduce vibration on the 2.5 crank and IMO, having driven both, I don't buy the journos opinion that the 2,5 is any more harsh than the 2.3. I beleive they just assume it must be because of the size of the 4 pot engine.
In the E30M3 world, most say the Evo2 enine is the one most likly to make the stated power and that is probably correct as most run them on 98RON these days. It's worth remembering that the engine outputs are in PS, not BHP DIN. So a 195ps cat is actually 192bhp(same as the quoted power of the US spec cars), 200ps non-cat=197bhp, 215ps=211.75bhp, 220ps= 216.7bhp and a SE 238ps is 234.4bhp. My SE with 117k miles made 229bhp on Northampton Motorsports rollers. Near enough.

It sure does. But considering this is an eBay auction who really knows if the sale will materialise. It seems odd (to me anyway) to sell this particular M3 on eBay in the first place. There's a £100k retracted bid because the seller couldn't be contacted???
Tis not the first time this car has been listed on ebay. I believe it made 94000euro last time. I think it is someone trying to bump up the price with a private auction with a high reserve. I expect to see it on the open market soon with a POA. Any enquiries to the seller will be met with, "it made 90k on ebay, but I wasn't happy with the buyer, but you can have it for 85k".
