Morning All, Never normally post on forums but thought i would shed some light on this car.

Its being sold by a good friend of mine and is not a scam or a dealer.

Ebay is a great audience for world wide exposure and is used by many classic car dealers all over the world.

The bids were genuine up to that price point but it did not sell when it came to the crunch, also this car has never been listed anyhwere else before.

As for the price if someone wants a low mileage factory E30 M3 Sport Evo then they will have to pay for it as they dont come cheap, people keep saying 10 years ago they only cost 12k how can they now be worth 85k? the same can be said about Dino's which were 20k 10 years ago and now 120k or 911 RS which have gone from 18k to 100k

Anyway thats my two pence worth. Hopefully my friend will sell at the right price to the right buyer.

I don't know much about eBay but i thought the winning bid was obligated to buy unless condition of product differed from that stated by the seller?

Also why did your friend not phone the next person down on the list and offer it to them....... Seems odd to me....

Finally 85k for any M3 for you then not to drive it and have it sat in your collection MAD!

Not sure on the reasons why and what happened with ebay, just thought i would let you know its legit.

As for buying one and and not drving it each to there own. I only drive my car about 15-20 times a year but its better having a appreciating clasic car instead of getting next to ZERO % on your savings!!

Except mobile.de at 115K euros, then reduced to 99K euros.

I would have thought the chances of finding a genuine buyer would have been higher on mobile.de than the 'bay of theives'......

But what do I know?

It only has value over £40/£50k as a piece of art.

The sale didn't complete last time it was on ebay! Just someone (and associates) running the price up before selling it on the normal market.

I expect to see it for sale somewhere with POA soon. Any enquiries will be met with "well, it was bid up to 85k on ebay, but the seller pulled out and I can't be bothered with the hassle again"!
I was almost right!

It may not be a scam and your freind may not be a dealer, but what he is, is a SPECULATOR!

The second part is a lie, so what makes you think we will believe the first part?

They are not. And as a Sport Evo owner myself, not even I would support the asking prices that are being asked. I see high asking prices, I never hear of any selling prices. Strange that! I am active in the E30 M3 community, but only know of one person who purchased a SE in the last 6 months and it was for less that half of what your friend is asking.

I suspect the right price is more important to you "friend" than the right buyer.

If I was in the market for such a car and followed the ebay auction, bid even, and found that there was no sale, but surprise surprise, there it is again with a price that his associates had bid it up to... I'd steer away.

Best of luck with your sale though.

Yep, if it didn't smell before with the number of cancelled bids, it absolutely reeks now.

Looks like a lovely car, shame the marketing of it has been handled the way it has.

That auction was clearly dodgy....the £85k bid was £3k more than the previous bid of £82k. Nobody serious about buying that car is a) going to submit a bid that high a matter of days before you buy it and b) submit a bid £3k more than the current bid. All you do is push the price up and achieve nothing for yourself as a buyer.

It was clearly rigged.

I am sure many people on here have bought items on eBay....as well all know items that are highly sort after attract a last min flutty of bids.

The vendor clearly thinks the car is worth that based on the two unused cars that sold a couple of years ago. But they were unused and this is a low mileage car which is a big difference....the two Sport Evo's for sale at 40k miles are not exactly high mileage for a 20 year old car.

The car is probably worth £60k.

RS's were £50k for a good one in 2002 and are now £180k to £200k. I tried buying one in 2002 for £50k and flinched at the £60k Autofarm wanted for one.

If your (ahem) friend is serious about selling it, then I suggest he stops with all the Fleabay nonsense. As you are probably aware the market for these cars is quite (if not very) specialised and anyone who is going to fork out for one of these cars does their homework very well indeed and the way your (ahem) friend is going about selling it, can only hinder it's sale (for a much lower price, one suspects).

If I was the owner and desperate to get rid, I would consider giving it to maybe Munich Legends to sell on my behalf.

ML's or Hexagon - then for sure we would see an asking price of 3 figure £ sum for an E30 M3. :biggrin

Perhaps you should have thought a little more before commenting in the first place, instead of trying to insult peoples intellgence!

But really, Bst of luck with the sale. And please let me know what it goes for as I might sell mine and buy Moldova or something.

What about considering something a little more philanthropic......maybe paying off third world debt with the proceeds?

Agree 100% Stevesingo.

Mr.Motheatenhound is on damage limitation excerise due to his smart arse seller mate.
Greed is order of the day with this M3.

''Hopefully my friend will sell at the right price to the right buyer.''
The 'right buyer'? I find that insulting after watching the auction.

Sorry to be so vague, but i can confirm that the 2 unregd ones went for serious money, very very serious dough indeed.
