I realise this is my first post on PH's, but it is because I have just purchased my first M5. I bought it off Scott who owns SJ Specialist Cars. It is still advertised on here but it is not on the website, it's the black E60 M5 M5LXD. I have to say that I have found him very helpfull and knowledgable about the cars he sells. The prices are lower than traditional dealers because of the lack of overheads and he mainly deals in M cars. There was no pushy sales techniques or bul**** when I bought the car, he also gave me a very fair price for my 57 plate 320 touring. hope this helps. Above all, the car is amazing... If a little thirsty, drove it up the A470 from South Wales to Llandudno....awesome.
That post alone makes me want to avoid the company just out of sheer paranoia now - lol !

This is almost a PH tradition...where a trader is being discussed, a new poster appears and explains their delight at dealing with said firm!
Odd how the same thing happened on Cutters when this guy was being discussed.
And yet not a single thing could tempt them into posting anything before hand, despite them obviously browsing the forums. Or did they come here just to stick up for him? What a staggering coincidence.

Looking at his profile he signed up yesterday....amazing he must have just happened upon PH having coincidentally bought a car from a car dealer people were querying the legitimacy of.

Maybe he's been struck by lightning which is why he hasn't replied since.

I also saw the post on cutters, but that was after I bought the car, and if I am honest I probably wouldn't have entertained buying it after reading that. The 320i that I had was a petrol rather than a diesel and hence not so desirable I suppose, he gave me £9000 for it against the £19500 M5, which was far more than than a dealer in Bridgend would give me against an M5 they had up for sale. The only minor gripe I had was the fact that the car was advertised as doing 40000 miles, when in fact it had don 42300. I have no allegiance to SJ Cars apart from the fact that I am really pleased with car I purchased off him even though I have only owned it for around a month. I have recommended him to a friend who is also in the market for an M5. If any PH's posters are in the South Wales area and would like to see the car as proof I am a genuine poster then feel free to contact me, and if they are thinking of buying off SJ cars they can see the 1st class condition the car is in.

As I stated on my first post I have only just purchased an M5, if I am honest I had never heard of Pistonheads before I saw the classifieds section through a google search for M5's for sale, and you are also right I have been browsing the forums before joining them including M5 board and cutters, but when I saw the post on SJ Cars I felt it would be a useful post for the OP'er.

So you're a user on M5board and m3cutters already but have only just come across PH?

Bit odd that someone looking for an M5 would sign up to a relatively obscure site devoted to 3ers prior to one of the biggest UK motoring forums around isn't it?

I signed up with fora that were specific to my cars (zroadster and thesmartclub) years before I signed up to PH.

I do agree with your cynicism(sp?), but I think you are being a tad hostile to a new member.

Well, it might just be enough for someone to give SJ a second look. If its legit, fair play for chucking your 2p in.

At no point have I said I'm on any other forum, I said I have browsed on them but am not a member and certainly have not posted on any of them. I am a genuine first time new poster to Pistonheads who has just purchased a car that is an awesome piece of kit, and I certainly didn't think I would ever aspire to owning such a car, and I feel I have a good deal off a genuine salesman. If you real cynics do want to get in touch my e.mail is ian.gardner33@btinternet.com and I will willingly give you my phone number for a chat and as I said earlier I have no problem meeting up with any of you. So if I am a fraud and part of SJ cars then you know where to contact me...........I wait in anticipation for a chat and a meet up!!!!, and I will bring my M5....the one in the Pistonheads classifieds that I just purchased......I wait in anticipation!!!!!

If you want BMW warranty, coffee, nice smiley receptionist then pay the 4 or 5 grand premium....If not buy at trade price + a bit, and accept that you have bought a car thousands cheaper than the main dealers, and often cheaper than private sellers are asking....

Ok, apologies for the cynicism but seeing as the same thing happened on cutters, where I was posting along with others to try and find out if the guy was legit, I was wary of your first post.

I'm not really that concerned as to drive out to South Wales so will just leave it at saying welcome to PH.

And for the record I did call SJ about the car I was interested in and was told that it had sold months ago, despite it being a 3 day old ad on PH, but not to worry as he had a far better one just in.

I think with regard to SJ we'll have to agree to disagree.

Thank you for the welcome and the apology. I agree it is a fault of his service that he leaves sold cars advertised on the various websites, I suppose I was lucky and saw the car when it first got advertised and had a very positive experience when viewing and purchasing the car. Finally, I think he would be a bit of a fool to sell poor quality vehicles from his house ( or at least it's his parents house I believe), especially with some of the unsavoury characters that could be potential purchasers.......I did actually make this point to him when I was tapping in my card details when buying the car.....he replied with a nervous laugh wink
