So that's exactly my situation, You can extend the warranty above 60k it just costs loads. Comp with £0 XS is £2400 !!
I do about 5k miles a year and the car is full service history from BMW.
I have the money to pay for the warranty just considering the gamble still....
E61 has a load of upgrades over a pre facelift and mine isn't displaying any current bad behaviour, although its never had a clutch either

Can't you just renew on the monthly plan and only pay £100 or there abouts?

Well that's the "dishonest" thing I've been considering. Previous owner bought car at 55k miles and was paying £90 per month. He cancelled on the 1st Aug, for me to extend its mega bucks as a new owner.
Maybe he didn't sell the car maybe he changed his mind, there is a 14 period of continuation where the warranty remains at the lower previous rate........ Maybe he re instates at my cost and transfers to me, theoretically the warranty covers the car not the owner right? The risk has not altered and shouldnt present the uplifted cost really.....

Fair play to you! If you've got the funds should it go wrong then it's simple really. If you want the piece of mind and have some cover for Engine and Gearbox. I just took out Mondial on the named component plan for 112 a month which is not bad at all.

As per your other post where you are considering selling the M5 (cheaply!) you may find it much easier to sell if it still has a current Mondial warranty

Mine is an AUC (in Belgium) and came with 2 years warranty. Not possible to extend it after that and there is not really a market for warranties here, so will be without warranty then - certainly a bit of concern, in view of the complexity of the car, but on the other hand did the same with an E39 M5 for 5 years, albeit that it is a much simpler car.

£1,400 in hand so let's see, if I keep it the mileage will only be 3-4k this year, I bought it keenly priced in Dumfries and throughout its life its had one warranty claim for solenoids last year. If I sell it its going to be THE cheapest E61 available in Europe. Was at PMW earlier this month and we went through a quick and dirty list of worst case costs and having a good specialist has got to be better than the robbery of a main dealer.
£3k+ for clutch and release etc or sub £1k at a specialist...
With the money i got back i bought this to keep the miles off the m5 during the week for london commuting

Such a fantastic looking car.
If I moved from my M6 it would be into an E61, going to be a legendary BMW.
