Dealers love finance because there is more money in it for them.

You need to be prepared to walk away if you are going to get the best deal......and frankly if you do walk away whetehr that is in person or over the phone there's nothing to stop you changing your mind a few days later and offering more.

There's an AUC thing going on this (or next) week where you get 5 years servicing or another years warranty thrown in. Heard the ad on the radio this morning.

You have always been able to get a 2nd year AUC warranty if you ask - either as part of the deal or £500 cost (which is a bargain if you were going to take up the Mondial insured warranty).

So if a 5 year service deal is available take that and pay the £500 for the AUC extension.

I wonder if the servicing deal applies to M cars too? Actually, I'll bet it doesn't.

They ran a similar event last July and M cars were included in the 2 year warranty deal.

Just read the small print on the site. The 5 year servicing deal is only available on 4 and 6 cylinder engines, so just E46 M's and Z4M's then? It doesnt mention any limits on the warranty side...

If I were to buy out with the main dealer network what should I be looking for. The car in question has full BMW SH including the running in service.

I'd probably want to get the Mondial warranty, I'm assuming the cost will be higher because the car was not in continuous warranty is that correct?

Is all the servicing/maintenane data I need to review in the idrive?

I think the main thing most people don't appreciate with the AUC cars is that they don't always come serviced to the correct schedule and in some cases aren't as bullet proof as you might expect. Be sure to check them over and ensure all the services including brake fluids were done on schedule (if they are scheduled, or when the iDrive whatsit says so). Don't assume just because you're buying from a dealer they're infallible. There have been cars sold with ditch finders, fake wheels and all sorts.

What he said...

P.S. The servicing deal does not include the M cars, but you can get 2 yrs warranty on them...

I'd carefully check what AUC prep work has actually been done- compared to what is recorded- Inspection 2 without an oil and filter change is more than possible!
