I am nearly certain that your car came with ambers, the 1993 M5 brochure shows ambers. The clear lenses only became an option on the face lifted wide kidney grille cars as far as I know.

I agree the sills will look much better back in their correct silver.

Good luck, looking forward to seeing the car at some point.
Interesting, as I've seen quite a number of '93 M5s running the clears, but then they were possibly swapped ala early E36 M3s. I must see if I can date the lenses on it at the moment somehow, and if I get an inkling that they're replacements it'll be going back to ambers. I love the look of them against Avus Blue

Going to be getting some work done on it after the winter is out (and the salt all gone!), so will have to bring it down your way for a spin some time

Yep, they were all modded to clear lenses over the years as they became more fashionable.

There are now virtually none of the 3.6 cars with ambers and turbine covers, yet that is what they all came with when delivered new from the factory.

If I was in the market for one, I would be looking at this.

I have not seen the car in the flesh, but if it is as good as it looks I think £7999 is fair value. A bit of haggle room too as it's been for sale for a while. The 3.6 cars have SLS rear suspension and normal front suspension so no EDC to worry about.

This car should have amber lenses, and M Tech I Turbine covers on the wheels for it to be completely standard.

Rust is now becoming a problem around the front jacking points where the sunroof drain pipe is located. The plastic sill covers need to come off for this to be inspected properly.

The supposedly better cars now seem to be going to £10,000 plus.

Here is my old 1992 3.8 5 speed. Bought for £2500 ish in 2009 with 170k on it and a very leaky sump. Got the sump sorted and used it daily for about 6 months, sold it for £2350 with creaky suspension and in need of some money spending on it. Reg was K100 PEL. Miss it dearly, should have kept it and spent the money.

It seems there used to be a few sensible cars around £5k a year or so ago but those seem to have vanished now and the entry point is now nearer £10k for something resembling sensible.

I quite like that, although I'd prefer another colour. Judging by examples on there prices are defo' increasing.

If you find a good one these days, colour should be secondary. Mine is white, I was unsure at first and I bought on condition but now I love the colour.

There were definitely a good few more for sale a couple of years ago when I got mine, but a gradual increase in values seems to have caused the better ones to be put away, and the rougher ones broken

While the E39 is probably the better all-round car, it just doesn't have the appeal of the E34s for me. I have little interest in the E60 at all

I think that car is for sale by a PHer, who also owns/owned an ACS E36 M3?

The owner is on the M5 board also.

Yep, I think the days of "Beer Money" E34 M5's are gone.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kE89fm292_s

Interestingly the 3.6 in the video has also lost it's ambers and Turbine covers, most 3.8's and 3.6's have.

I completely agree that the E34 has something that the E39 and E60 are missing, for me it's the naturally aspirated straight six engine.

You're right. I bought a red E30 M3, because it was the best I could afford and now I love the colour. In truth, I was hoping to pick up one of the £2 or 3k cars that were around a while back, but seems I missed that particular boat.

I've also been looking at E39 but they don't hold the same appeal for me either. I couldn't live with wood interior trim but the biggest thing is the engine. I like free revving engines and the V8 is more low down grunt. I much prefer the character of the S38.

There's nothing wrong with a red E30 M3 :-)

Despite the awful tyres this might have been a workable example of a 3.6 for £3k;

Saw a thread on forum5 about that one, had a haircut apparently frown. Was briefly tempted by it a few months ago as it looked good in the Ad.

The Red one for sale in Northern Ireland has been for sale for, I reckon, 6 months, he started at £9995 for it. I agree at its current price it looks to be coming close to a good buy, there is a lot of talk about how these should climb in value soon. I bought one in the summer and sold it at a pretty big loss a few months later...it just needed so much work doing to it, to get it right...personally i want a car that, when you want to go for a drive, you can jump in and take it without worrying, mine was not of this ilk.

So, no new news here, buy the very best you can afford and have it inspected, unless of course you are a mechanic in the first place!

What a car though, loved the engine and the sound...but not the continual misfire or the oil consumption, or smell, or leaks ! wouldn't mind another some day.

Nice car. Provided you remember to allow soak time to get wheel off(if you have an air bag), its easy to get dials out. Then easy to strip it out, use any old E34 to get new bits or have dial(s) resprayed. There are loads of companies about who can replace digital section, I had my OBC done for £30,I took the red filters out but thats personal preference.

From Ad.
"Original German market car with the Fahrzeugbrief still with the car. 2 owners in Germany before export to UK in 1998. Full Serviceheft and file including the original bills for maintenance which show an amazing level of spending totalling €40,000.. New engine fitted at 110000 km, car has covered 210000 km total. New exhaust, EDC units, window regulators, clutch & flywheel 20000 km ago, on & on.."

V.cheap considering only 60k miles on the engine & all the expensive bits replaced 12k miles ago.
