I was thinking about this on the daily commute this morning. One month in and I'm nearing 1k miles so my 12k per year allowance should be fairly accurate I hope. However, I have found myself deciding to walk or leave the car at home on a couple of occasions due to slight concern that I'll end up wildly over my allowance at the end of the lease. To me, that is tantamount to sacrilege considering what fun it is to drive!

So... if I go over the mileage allowance but decide to purchase the car at the end of the lease, I presume I'd still need to pay the excess mileage to offset the lower sale price. Can anyone confirm?
Not sure but the excess mileage charge is cheap enough on mine. I plan to return it (if i don't buy it) with about 25k on it. 23k will cost about another £250. 30k will cost about another £1100. When you average out the pence-per-mile over the lease, it actually makes sense to whack the miles on it. I'm quite sure that if you finished the 2 yrs with 40k on it, it would lose more in depreciation than the £2.5k excess mileage charge.

Very good point. Might stick 100k on it and buy it for a pack of peanuts! smile

I would not have to pay excess if you buy.

If you have a contract for 12k pa for 2 years you will pay what they believe is the going rate for a 2 year old 24,000 mile car. If you have done 30,000 miles it is your problem.

I am also struggling to keep the mileage down, but fortunately have a passat diesel that I can use as offset.

Cheers; a lot of trial and error and too many wasted products!
I use Dodo Supernatural hybrid on the paint; fairly cheap but very good. I never go top end, but you can do very well getting slightly specialist stuff. Big name products (AG, Megs, Simoniz, etc) are often disappointing IMO.

My aim is not to have the shiniest car I won't use but to protect it and make it easier to clean. Especially vital when you live 200 yards from the Atlantic Ocean!

Collinite 476s is a great 'permanent' wax for those who rarely have the inclination to wax their car.

Has anyone got the standard stereo working with an iPhone 5 yet?

You would need to do this via a y-cable unless you went for Enhanced Bluetooth (option 6NS)

Is there a lightning Y cable, or do you need to use a 30 pin adapter? There seem to be mixed reports online about the Y cable + adapter working.

No release of a lightning Y cable AFAIK but I know people who use the OEM y-cables with the 30 pin adapter and it works fine for them. I don't bother... I run an old (surplus to requirements) 30pin iPod through the OEM y-cable and it lives in the armrest 24/7. I do this because a) my journeys are less than 40 minutes most of the time and I prefer not to give my phone short bursts of low-voltage charging and b) I kept leaving my phone in the armrest when getting out of the car which was annoying.

Alternatively, for £10 you can get a memory stick and drag and drop your albums / playlists into that direct from itunes. Then just stick it in the armrest and forget about it... not ideal as you can't make full use of the search functions, but probably the cheapest solution.

As a last note, most cases of the 'Y cable' not working are because the cable being used is one of the 'fake' ones off amazon/ebay. The other thing is that there are a few different types of Y cable.. the one with the rectangular divider seems to work with any combination of car/device whereas the one with the triangular divider sometimes doesn't work with certain models/phones.

I was just wondering if anyone can recommend any decent fitting seat covers for the M135i? Thanks

Still loving the M135i and love the power. I actually think it is too quick for day to day. Everyone seems to be getting in my way, threat of losing the license is always there, and when you do stretch the legs in the wet at least it twitches everywhere.

Yep I want more power.....odd.

I'm using the cruise as a means of keeping my speed in check, otherwise it just gets very silly very quickly.

I've always fancied an M5, but now I've had the M135i for a year I can't see I'd need anything faster.

S'pose so smile

Serious question though, can you really use your M5 on the road? Maybe it's an age thing, maybe it's the constant threat of plod and their vans, but I'm not sure I could trust myself with one.

Well mine arrived today, must say I am pleased with it so far having driven it the 5 miles round trip to the station and back to drop the driver off. Need to have a play with some of the settings and systems later and have a good look around.

First thing I did notice was the pedal position. I didn't drive the manual before ordering but the pedals seem to be really offset compared with my A4 I have been used to, didn't notice the difference in the auto. But looking forward to getting to know it a bit and stretching its legs a little.

A couple of pictures, although hardly an exciting combination!

I picked mine up on Sunday, have near 400 miles on it already.

Chuffed to bits with it.

Is there any way of counting how many PHers now have an M135i? I be only seen four yet they seem to be very popular on here!

I have one Vlad, very, very pleased with it.

With regards whether its an M car or not, I couldn't care less and the endless debate is very tedious. I also have a 997 C4S and will often take the 135i in preference to the Porsche. I think that sums the M135i abilities up very well.

Mine is approximately 100 miles short of the 1,200 'running in' period. Looking forward to giving it the beans soon. It's absolutely rapid even when keeping the revs below 4,500 so goodness knows what 7,000 will be like!
