Interesting, thanks. Have you driven a manual M135i? What did you think?
Not yet, hoping to asap. Wasnt a big fan of the auto at all, too many gears and well, i like a clutch. Autos are great in 730d's when doing 40k miles a year, but i get bored waaaaay too quickly. My R32 would probably still be on the drive if it wasnt a sodding DSG lol. BMW manuals are generally very good (well except 1st/2nd lurching due to CDV) and the pedal positioning is perfect for heal & toe. Its the 1M gearbox apparently.

I drove an auto on Sunday, it's a brilliant gearbox but with the numb steering, auto box and quiet cabin it didn't feel that involving an experience. The manual might rectify that a little, maybe.
Can understand those thoughts entirely, certainly wasnt an event to drive like my old e46 M3, more like a newer, more refined 330ci, with a better turn of pace. I like hot hatches though, so for me, on paper at least, it makes perfect sense. Im with you though, i do need to try a manual version.Shame all the blooming dealers have autos!! The test drive i booked was for manual, but they thought id prefer the flappy paddle thing so didnt have a 6sp available

Glad I'm not the only one! You're hard pressed to find anything positive about the manual version online - long shift, cramped pedals, higher tax (although that's not really an issue when leasing). Hopefully most of that is just internet hyperbole.Shame all the blooming dealers have autos!! Driving at legal speeds on the test drive I wasn't really doing enough to feel engaged, I played with the paddles a bit but that didn't really help. Also I sort of wish I didn't know about the active sound system, when you remember that most of the noise is just coming out of the speakers you start to feel more like you're playing a computer game than actually driving.

£6k to drive one of them for 2 years?! I have absolutely no reason in the world to get one other than I'd feel like a total mug for not!
Are these stupidly cheap for a reason? Not selling well? Can't say I've seen a genuine one on the road yet - only 116i's which look identical!

The reason for a cheap lease must mean that they can buy it for a good price - we know that that is possible. £5.5k discounts are very common.
Also the predicted residual value must be pretty good.
So it must mean that it is a safe bet to buy one, or take advantage of the lease companies ability to get the VAT back from the government and lease it for a song.
When I was looking a couple of months ago, the best leasing deal was through a BMW dealer in the midlands. All the other companies offered good prices on their websites, but then the price changed when I got in touch.. Typical...
With my car which I bought, with the spec I wanted, I would have saved £20 a month getting the lease instead of PCP. Only problem with a lease is that you really have to have the car for the whole term or they cane you... PCP is more flexible...

Look at the webpage

Seen this deal myself, seems unbelievable value.Business (£209.00 ex. VAT) & personal prices (£251.99 inc VAT) on there.
Been looking for a 130i for around £7k but for £7k I can drive a M135i for 2 years and not have any servicing costs....... making the decision a whole lot harder! head & heart still says used 130i though.

Hope these deals are still around after christmas which is when I'm looking to change. Having never leased before, do you have to wait for these to be built like when getting from BMW, or do they have the cars in stock ready to go?

Imho the deals are available now as its Q4 for BMW UK, therefore massive discounts are available to get the numbers in. The leasing company's can get the same -18% discount on the M135i as we can, but then they can reclaim the VAT as well. Naturally as a private leaser we would have to add the VAT back on, but it still makes for an epic deal.
Will these offers be available in January? Not a chance i dont think.
