My minimum spec (& what i went for) was:
Comfort pack - essential for cruise control, rear parking sensors are useful
Black panel - makes the dash look a little nicer, mpg "swinger" display is nice, like my old 330i
Additional storage - useful boot net, little glovebox by the drivers knee
Heated seats - just hate not having them
I dont think you need anything else really.
I was a little gutted I didn't spec comfort pack for the cruise control, but actually the limiter is almost as good, and I've a nicer looking rear bumper Comfort pack - essential for cruise control, rear parking sensors are useful

Following a thread in GG, I've found that I don't have a jack or wheel brace with the car. I know I don't need them with no spare wheel but it was a surprise, I always use the brace to fit the towing eye for track days etc.
Also, I found the fuse box in the boot behind the back seats with no cover on it. I'll try to remember not to carry any liquids behind the back seat

Just received an email from my BMW dealer saying my car has been built! Delivery should be week 20.
I've used the website below to check the VIN number and confirm my spec is correct (phew);
http://www.bmwarchive.org/vin/bmw-vin-decoder.html
Type in the last 7 digits of your VIN and it gives you a nice PDF.
Does anyone here know how to use your VIN number to actually check progress of the vehicle in transit (apologies if this has been discussed before)?

Just over 3000 miles in mine so far, and realising I went for the wrong car. It's nippy enough, but just doesn't ever feel special. I'm surprised to hear of stories of people wanting to race them in an M135i, as the car has absolutely zero road presence. Even stood right next to it, you could be mistaken for thinking its a 116D. I'm counting down the 22 months until I can get a 997, which is what I should've gone for in the first place.

Just checked the supposed VIN of the car I am waiting via CVL, it seems as though the spec is wrong! Frustrating to say the least, it's only minor ( hexagon with blue instead of brushed aluminium with black ) I've used the website below to check the VIN number and confirm my spec is correct (phew);

When did you order? AFAIK all their post dec orders were total base spec, which is hex with blue.Looks rather nice with black leather and blue calipers

I'm not sure what you expected from a 1 Series I'm really happy with mine. The one series is a good little car, and the M135i is a very good 1 Series, so it's a very good daily drive.
I won't be giving up my second car in a hurry though.
I read a quoted post above which I assume was commenting on the amber/white fuel gauge?
I've noticed this and think it's white during the day and when the headlights are on during the day for reduced light or if you have the wipers on. If it's actually night, or particularly dark during the day it's always orange.

Test drove an M235i the other day as possible replacement for the M3. While it was a cracking car and good fun to drive, it just feels like a faster version of an ordinary beemer. It's not 'special' enough for me. Plus there are no deals at the moment on a lease. Sticking with the M3 for now.

Edit - Just spoke to Jo at CVL, she is going to look into this for me as my order form says Brushed Alu with Gloss Black.
Frustrating as i've waited nearly 20 weeks and within 10 days of it arriving it turns out to be wrong

Agreed though compared to my previous E46 M3 it doesn't have anything like the character although it's undeniably quick.
