I'd get the fan fixed, mine was gutless when it had that problem. Is yours still pulling from 1.5-2k revs or not?
Yeah had it two or three times when it sounds like a road sweeper and goes into a weird uber-eco-pro style hardly any throttle response mode. Not done it for ages. Might get it in but can't be arsed with the hassle given how it's so easily solved.
Yea but mine was 75% power all of the time, super laggy compared to how it is now. Sir_Dave's was the same..

Ditto. Fan replaced and software updated. Not done it since.

Did you chaps have to demonstrate the issue to a garage or is it now acknowledged by BMW as an issue that can be fixed under warranty?

The reason I ask is I have a Feb 2014 build M135i and the fan has gone bonkers a few times (maybe three or four that I can remember in the 5k miles of ownership so far) but I've not noticed any problems with lag at the same time. I even posted a video when I first noticed it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_obJmzT8GGQ&li...

Likewise, I had the same issue with mine, been fine ever since. I must confess that other than the straight line performance and noise, the body control and handling isn't what I had hoped it would be. As lease deals go, its a belter, but I cant help looking forward to it ending now!

Didn't have to demonstrate anything, I just told them it was a known problem and to look it up on their system (midas?)

24 hours later, the car was sorted.

Ok cool - might get that sorted then. Has it been ok since the fix?

Fine, though it only did it 3 times in the previous 3,500 miles, and I don't think I've a 1,000 miles on it since the fix.

Same happened to mine, 10 days into ownership, didn't have to prove it as such, they knew my issue and it showed up on the fault logs on the ECU, 21 (ish) days later, new fan and software update and I had it back... "touch wood" its been fine since!

I've seen lots of people talk about £350 a month pcp deals over 4years.

Can anyone point me in the direction of a dealer (or collection of dealers) who are currently offering these deals ?

I'm considering one for the other half in 5 door form.

As above, the dealership weren't aware of the issue but asked the service manager to check on the system as it's a common fault. Sorted by lunchtime the next day and has been faultless for the last 10k miles.

Go to another dealer and just book it in for the fault.

or just keep driving it, and wait for it to fail more often so you can show them

It doesn't store a fault code.

Tell them to check Midas or whatever their system is called, it's 100% on there.

Its called PUMA, all reported faults are on there. Will store a fault code though, however doesnt always come up on the key, so they might need to do a proper "plug in the computer" diagnostic instead.
