Well, thoughts so far, after a quick 20 minutes test drive, will do a proper comparison when the M135i goes back (ill have both for 2-3 weeks):

1. M3 steering far better, i hate the lightness of the newer car, a real let down!
2. M3 throttle response far better, lack of turbo = much nicer
3. M3 pulls to the top end far nicer, no point taking the M135i past 5.5k, you can travel very quickly using just the first 4.5k rpm. Newer car far quicker off the line, around town kind of driving. It is deceptively fast, but gives a massive "boooost" feeling, when you go for it. 0-60 and 0-100mph are pretty much the same, its just the way the speed is delivered is different.
4. Brakes are a million times better in the M135i.
5. Noise wise, the M135i sounds like a 330i with a turbo, the M3 is totally bespoke/raspy/angry sounding, esp. on startup.
5. M3 has a nicer colour interior combo than the M135i, that is spec dependent though, the overall interior on the M135i is far nice looking, but the older car seems to have been put together better, with more expensive/harder wearing materials.
6. Overall, the M3 feels like a much older car, which it is. As a family daily, the M135i is by far the best car, but i dont need that, i need something that makes me smile just by remembering that i own it.

No doubt, when it needs fixing for the first time, i'll wish i was back in the M135i hehe
It sounds like it comes down to the response of the engine, the more mechanical sound and general feel, which are certainly areas where the M135i is lacking. As I said on Babybmw, it gives the M3 a huge edge that the M135i can never replicate.

So, today i got 2 options from Gateway2Lease, for my 18 months old M135i with 16k miles:

1. Buy outright for £23,800. Not exactly a good deal lol.
2. Hand it back for £596.23 (5 months rental, divided by 2, less the VAT)

Having put a deposit down on an e46 M3 on Saturday, im doing option 2, but i thought the buy price would be less, i could get a brand new one for £26.5k, or a 2nd hand one for considerably less than £24k!! Seems daft to try & get such a high figure when they simply get punted off to BCA auction otherwise ...
Put this on babybmw.net as well, but..

Random, I've just had mine and the cherished plate docs. It will now be RF14 MHU!

My buy it now price is £24,650.00 with 14k miles.

The hand back figure (valid until 10th Oct) is more than I think it should be at £934.18. I got my car on the 13th March 2014, so would my last payment be 13th March 2015? Meaning I have Oct, Nov, Dec, Jan, Feb & March to Pay? (£727 I work it out as, rental is £303pm)
My handback now is going to be £610. £293 x 5 remaining payments, less the VAT.

We're taking it because we're reached our mileage limit, it's due a service soon, and the Mrs has bought a better MPG car outright now.

Good car, but i've kind of fallen out of love with it now. It does nothing for me at all.

20k over 2 years is 833 miles per month, & they charge you if you go over that on a pro-rata basis using:

7.5p per mile between 100+115% of the annual mileage allowance
11.26p per mile over 115% of the annual mileage allowance

Mines on 17138 (should be on 15833), so i estimate an excess mileage charge of £97.85, pus the handback of £596.13.

Have now had the M3 for 8 days, cant say ive even thought about driving the 135i tbh.

I have a G2L lease due up in February, I thought another option at end of term was to extend lease for another fixed term or continue on month by month with no fixed term, anyone been offered this?

Out of interest, how have people been with adding oil, and how did you run it in?

Mine just asked for its first top up at a little over 11k, I ran it in hard from the go.

Mine asked for 1l at 9,600 miles. I drove carefully for the first 500ish miles.

mine done 23 k now, added 1 litre at 12k and another 1 litre just before the 1st service, so 2l over 23 k miles, not bad, my old 12 plate scooby sti used to need a 1/2 litre every week

Trying to make the most of mine over the weekend as it goes Monday. I will really miss the HK stereo and flat out gear changes from first to second and revving 2nd out to 70mph. That's about the only time the car feels remotely 'fizzy'

Well it looks like mine will be going back to the dealers. Had the fan replaced in June last year and it's started kicking off again this weekend, same symptoms as before.

Mine is another lease which is due back in Feb. Anyone clarified yet whether they need to be returned with Pilot Supersports on? Not sure if mine are going to last (I'm sure I recall they have to have 2mm tread minimum?)

Out of curiosity, are there a lot of m135i coming to end of leases soon? Wondering what might happen to residuals here.

I recall you could buy a bog spec manual for c £25k brand new in 2012/13 (i.e. Incl discount), and 2-3yrs on even the cheapest second hand ones are £20k. If you'd bought one for for £25k it's probably worked out v cheap motoring all things considered

An awful lot will be going back during Feb/Mar next year if this thread is anything to go by, as many jumped on the cheap G2L deal in Nov 2013 (me being one of them)

Mine went to BCA yesterday, I'm registered on the site but not being in the trade I can't see values. Hoping to spot it on there soon.

that's why I decided to lease rather than buy one, looked at the trade values few weeks ago 20-22 for cheap ones but still quite low mileage, next year they will be loads for sale as leases end and take few months to get in the nextwork

Looking for some advice, I'm close to pulling the trigger on one of these but I've never bought a new car before so unsure of what is a good deal and how the website brokers compare to the main dealers.

I've been quoted roughly 300 a month at 10k miles over 48 months, with 15% down from a main dealer with a couple of options.

How competitive is this and where is good to look for the cheaper deals? I'd rather not lease as I'd like the option to buy and not sure about my mileage at the moment. I've had a look through the thread's more recent pages at some of the sites etc. but looking for some more general advice really.

Cheers
