That sounds more like a PCP deal than a personal lease.

With Porsche cars for example you are categorically better off in selling it on your own as the "guaranteed repurchase price" is almost always comically low...
As pointed out, that's a PCP, not a lease. With a lease you often cannot buy the car - I forget why now, some tax reason. VW, for example, don't allow it, although some makes seem to.

It's a good thing on a PCP if the final value is set low as it opens up all the options. As you say, you can buy and resell, you can buy and keep, or you can expect a decent PX value to roll into your next PCP.

The downside of a low final value is it makes the monthly payments higher. That's one of the reasons why leasing can look cheaper - they don't have to leave equity in the car.

Mine goes back in 6 months, no idea what can replace it as an overall package in terms of performance/£ ? confused

I'm not in a position to buy it, so it will either be extend for another 6-12 months or hand it back.

I had no idea we had the option to extend on these lease deals?

Also, on a side note, hows everyone tyres?

Decided that I'll be keeping my at the end of my PCP. £14k to buy it out just seems very cheap to me.

18k and about 3mm left - pretty impressive! Will change them in the next few months I guess.

Are you able to purchase the M135i from the lease company and has anybody had a quote yet or is it all speculation that it'll be costly

I haven't done much mileage in mine maybe shy of 5k but loved every minute of it. I definitely need a few more road trips in sports mode soon.

March is looming and I can't think of a car that can match the fun I have in it.

It depends on the company, those who got the deal with gateway2lease have the option to hand back, buy, extend for 3-12 months.

They don't give you a price to buy until you're within the last 3 months of the lease, that said, I can't see that it would be an unreasonable price as they'll just be punting them off into the trade anyway.

That's very interesting, I presume the extensions come with an additional pro-rata mileage allowance?

Mine wasn't through G2L, but was ultimately provided by Leaseplan which I believe is the same as the G2L vehicles?

Correct - G2L deals were also through Leaseplan.

I made the daft decision to go for 12k mileage allowance due to my job at the start of the deal which subsequently changed. 17 months into the lease I've totalled 8k miles! boxedin

Does anyone know if the extensions are at the same monthly rate? I would imagine the cost would need to increase slightly to offset the initial deposit being based on a 2 year deal?

I'm under 10k miles in after 17 months... so I'm driving to the south of France in a few weeks, just to put some miles on it!

They calculate a price based on your current mileage.

I'm on 16k out of 20k allowance, think I'll be over by maybe a 1000 or so. I worked out at the time it was cheaper to go for 10k and pay the small excess than to commit to 12k.

I see, thanks. How do the prices compare to the original deal?

No idea. At a guess it will be fairly similar to your original cost, if you are within your mileage allowance. Unless the car is currently worth a lot less than they had predicted, in which case it may be higher to recoup this loss.

Plan to hand mine back in March. Hoping to avoid a service. Is this possible? Will ask about extending however.

It's on 14000 miles right now, but not been used in 6 weeks. It goes weeks and months without being used, then a feel bad and take it to Germany, then feel bad I'll go over allowance.

Reckon it will end up on 18000 with 2-3mm on tyres, which I will be happy with.

Not 100% sure but thought it would still need a service on time even if mileage is not exceeded? Could be wrong though.

I think you can service it one month late and be within what is deemed acceptable.
