I just laughed out loud, through my nose! And woooo 8000rpm, such dizzying heights. BTW I enjoy watching Lovejoy as I see it as a character aspiration.

I see me as Lovejoy and you as Eric, the ginger helping hand.

I don't think so. They'd be frightened of getting flies in their beards biggrin I can't even begin to tell the Torque-ing bollix set what 14,000 rpm on a 1,000cc motorcycle is like. They'd all have an apoplectic fit!

....Case in point: the comment above where it was suggested that the 911 felt "slow and cumbersome". Right, OK, let's ignore the fact that the 911 (even in 4S flavor) is 100kg lighter, is shorter geared and possesses 25bhp more (assuming 997.2)...
I made that comment. It was the latest 4S that I drove but it doesn't possess more power than my 1M which is probably part of the problem.

According to the Porsche website, the 4S is 400bhp and my 1M is 430bhp. The 4S has 324 lb.ft torque whereas my 1M has nearly 500 lb.ft. So I'm not surprised the 4S felt lethargic!

Ah he'll be fine and I'm sure he'll be on soon to let McAngus understand the benefits of proper gear ratios and torque wink

It's ok, because i am EXCITED (still)

Pick up is 12:00 tomorrow. Today 3 different family members ended up in hospital for 3 different reasons -a day of 250 miles driving and even now creeping across to Birmingham by train to rescue the family merc abandoned after wife's dance floor fall.... But I will still be there at 12. they will not defeat me. As pistonheads is my witness i will pick up that car.

Can we go back to calling me a spunker and you a wheezer? Cider seeing as you are local it would be very nice to catch anotehr feel of a 1M! Newbury/Wantage over to Dorchester for a fat breakfast at Foxes diner!
Do you know i read that first time and thought "thats a very long way to go for a drive", and its only now on this train through oxfordshire i realise there's a Dorchester around here too! I know you chaps are a little odd, but that's at least one weird less weird thing to worry about the World Of M Owners! smile

Quite. Now are we going to do some sort of Fox's breakfast meet up? Least torque pays.

You'll love the 1M. Fantastic car. Had mine with me today so I left work early today and went the very long way back to my inlaws across Hampshire. Awesome!

I owned an E92 back in 07/08 and loved that too, but 1M feels more special as an overall package.

Enjoy your new toy!

No idea where it is - but relatively new to the area and always good to meet other like minded chaps with fast cars, so i'm sure we can. Away for a couple of weeks from the 3rd - so mid/late may onwards works for me.

12 hours to go. EXCI... You get the idea!

Are you Wantage based or are you slumming it in Newbury?

The only thing you have to be extremely cautious of around the Oxfordshire area is radar cars. There are always a few out and typically they like to pretend they are playing CoD as a sniper and hide in full cammo behind the grassy knoll.
