I would say, politely, that cited TG piece is nowhere near a confirmation.

Public comments are the first place M2 CSL is even mentioned.

Would think the 1M has peaked
Punchy turbo m cars are the norm now, M4, the upcoming m2..etc
No invested interest just a view. I'm hoping bmw make a stripped out m2 csl

Sell, sell, sell - should be circa £5k more than a well specced M135i

Limited run M2 = rising/holding 1M Prices

Unlimited run M2 for the masses = 1M Prices going further and further

The 1M is now a certified blip in M history. It wasn't planned like this it's just how it turned out.

If there is a CSL M2 I'm in, however the 1M will be staying in the garage beside it.

I would say the most likely case is an unlimited run M2 plus a very limited M2 CSL on top.

Yep agree even to the point of the M2 CSL joining the 1M in the garage.

Just about to fit a recaro baby capsule into the back of the 1M, the perfect all rounder in my opinion!

Tough call if m2 is superior car, 1M will have rarity value but I don't see it appreciating through m2 pricing and if anything it's the e92 m3 that will.stand out in the new order, just it is relatively speaking, quite ubiquitous

But many superior cars are past over for older more special cars

Indeed. And, to the extent that "superiority" is a factor, it rather depends how you define it. By any sensible measure, the e39 M5 is a "superior" car to the original e28 M5 but I know which I'd rather own and the market speaks for itself.

There are countless examples - e92 M3s now changing hands much cheaper than the limited edition e46 M3CS that preceeded it, for example.

Only time will tell how the 1M performs. But, with respect to the poster above, the suggestion that the e92 M3 is somehow more special is hard to understand. And I say that as someone who really likes the e92 (I've owned two of them). Great engine, but I doubt it'll ever enter the pantheon of seminal M cars.

Why hard to understand? The m3 looks better(competition pack frozen colours especially), drives better, sounds better esp with an m exhaust, and has a bespoke n/a m v8

Exactly.

(Approx 65,000 e90/92/93 M3s worldwide, of which circa 35-40,000 were coupes... just in case the question wasn't rhetorical)
