Shocking really.

I don't quite understand why you are still talking to BMW and haven't simply issued legal proceedings? What am I missing?

Waiting for bvrla complaint outcome.
Hoping for reasonableness to ensue. Proving my reasonableness so that when action begins i can clearly demonstrate i have attempted every possible resolution.

I bet the car is sitting there untouched and has been since the day they've had it (some 60 days now).

No update on the car now for just under a month.. Today is day 60 since my car went to dealer.

Had a derisory offer from Bmw via dealer to terminate lease today.
What have the dealer given you to drive?

If possible it would be good that if the issue is never resolved in terms of the car being fixed then to put of the reg plate of the car so that no one else gets this lemon.

No doubt it will be on a forecourt soon enough without it still being fixed.

BVRLA cant act it seems now as BMW have offered to terminate the lease. Which is not what their terms say. I don't have a contract with BMW.

The Dealer have told me, after asking 4 times without response that the parts still have not arrived. They expressed confusion why I asked considering I threatened legal action. Erm I threatened legal action because no one was responding or acting in any way reasonably but me.

It's Day 65 I think.

Rich do you think BMW or dealer would be acting differently if it wasn't a lease and you had used them for the finance?

Have you tried SMMT ? https://www.smmt.co.uk/products-services/consumer-...

Mate of mine had a warranty problem with Audi...I suggested he tried them and hey presto Audi fixed the problem under warranty.

Will update in a few days.

Car returned after parts arrived on day 92 or 93. Issue still occurring. Suggestions so far have been, I will be released from the lease... thats kind of them ... not. Or entering into another contract for a replacement vehicle.. I would actually just prefer that the parties involved honour the original contract.

Any Journalists want to contact me feel free.

This is an unbelievable saga. Are they offering anything for the periods when you've been deprived of use of the car?

cant wait for my M5 to arrive after reading this.... ;-)

I realise all car companies produce lemons but its how they rectify the problem that stands the test of time. Not good at all from BMW

Agreed, but I doubt that the other big/prestige marques are any better when it comes to rectifying a potentially very expensive problem that they can't really understand.

Feel very sorry for OP.
I've had similar experience.
What I learnt.

1. Don't buy a new car. If you buy S/H 1 year old demo then disposal or px for another is worth the loss. If new the loss is to large.
Or
2. Immediately on such major problem refuse to keep the vehicle stating you've lost total confidence in it leave it at the dealers and peruse refund from leasing company etc.. Ie refuse to have it back under and condition.
Or
3. Write it off and claim the insurance.

The nice long route is soul destroying and I'd happily pay several thousand never to go that route ever again life is too short!
New car Never again!

Option 1. Is currently my preferred route I used it on a Mercedes with a/c issues it cost me £3,000 to swap after 6 months ownership with the same dealer after their attempts to fix it made zero difference.
Give the problem back every time....

Mercedes are far worst than BMW in my experience though in the uk without a Lemmon law we're pretty much fked with new cars.
