Hi all,
New car registration Question:
How does new car registration work? M5 is arriving this week.
Does the dealer have to register the car as it is imported (i.e a 63 plate) or can they wait and register it in March (14 plate)
Probably a silly question but is there any leeway around registration? I.e I drive the car away this weekend as a 14 plate even though it's not March yet?
Thanks
Tony tell them to Hold it till 1st March, they will if the dealer is any good, if not Tell them you are away till then and NOT to register it till you get back.New car registration Question:

It should not be a problem for them. J

Kind of depends on the deal though. The dealer may have included any one of the myriad of reg bonuses to get the deal right for the customer so may be dependant on him taking a late 63 rather than early 14.It should not be a problem for them. J
Mine arrived early & the dealer/rep got a few ££'s extra by me collecting on Sept 30th rather than Oct 30th (different quarter). This of course had nothing to do with registrations, purely quarterly targets, however as i'd driven the best deal available at the time through BMW, i was happy for the rep to make a few extra ££'s. I was a few quid out of pocket as had to send my A8 back a little earlier than planned but no big deal.

My dealer kinda knows March has always been the date - it was the expected date and I also told him i'd be out of the country until the 6th March as i'm in Rio for Carnival....so he really can't force me to come in and sign this month
The dealer doesn't need your signature to register the car.ACE997 said:

I know that buy my point is he knows I wouldn't collect till March so why register it at the end of Feb? Affects the final value of the car which he eventually gets lumped with.
As i said above, the dealer will have a variety of discounts & bonuses built into the deal so being a lease (assuming it is) i don't see 1. why you care about the residuals?. 2. how you can force the dealers hand to register late as in essence the car will belong to BMW (assuming it's BMW Finance).W8PMC said:

Good points , I had not thought about the BMW ownership angle.Mark777 said:
Anyone know of any upcoming lease deals on M5/M6 C63 or similar?
Looking to pay upto max £600 per month inc vat on personal lease.
Just had my wife's car written off last week with the strong winds (two Leylandi came down on top of convertible when parked on the driveway!)
I think you'll get a deal but it will depend on the mileage you require.Looking to pay upto max £600 per month inc vat on personal lease.

If the car was coming any other time such as the start of Feb I would just take it as is!

Well you'll just have to ask nicely and hope they oblige you. I don't care out about residuals, call it pure vanity but I just want a '14' plate. If the car was coming any other time such as the start of Feb I would just take it as is!

I didn't want to start a new thread but would like to ask M5 owners what sort of range you are getting from a tankful. Ta.
Erm, anal mode on.....I've averaged 17.53 since delivery and the last fill was 15.73 (I use an app called Road Trip and religiously complete it after every fill up).
So that's....
3447 miles in total since 24th November
£1249 spent on fuel
£0.357/mile
£1.377/ltr average (Super only)
270 miles per tank
Could be worse
Mainly town driving and a few longer trips which will move the average mpg upwards.
The computer in the car suggests 17.9mpg average so it's not far out of my 'real' figure.
To be honest, I'm happy as the fun per £ spent is worth it
