Nice write up, beautiful car.

One observation, you need to be unbelievably careful when removing wheels with the Ceramics. The slightly knock to the disk, however small, will damage them and you know that's big bucks. My dealer told me if I wanted them to change the tyres at any point in the future they would need a few days notice in order to get in the tyre lifting device (see below).

Below is extract from the BMWs Technical Training Product Information briefing pack (I have this full PDF is anyone wants to see it).

Thanks for this....a good reminder. Wouldn't mind seeing the PDF if you don't mind?

However, I was extremely careful....although looking at the design it would be very difficult to knock the discs. Theres a backing plate thats nearly as big as the wheel so you unless you're a real numpty, you can't really get near the disc! I won't be taking them off in a hurry again though!

Tempted by the 991 turbo s?
Yes and no - I had a 997.2 Turbo and never really enjoyed it, despite it being the most technically capable car I've ever owned/driven. I respected how capable it was but it never really did it for me....hard to put my finger on it but I much prefer the M6's greater luxury and sense of occasion, despite it being ultimately less capable.

Saying that, I do like the new 991 and the Turbos' likely ability intrigues me. However, it'll have to depreciate some way to get near the price I'm paying for the M6 (give it a year or two after launch though!), despite my cars' spec.

Having spent about 2 months working out the next purchase and having considered all the competition, I went for this. I owned the previous M6 and cant believe how things have moved on. Was a bit concerned with the white initially, but having seen it in the flesh, I love the contrast with the carbon roof.

Very please with the purchase. Hope the pics come out ok

Boxbox....nice car wink I'd have liked white (shows off the carbon roof best) but then I couldn't exactly have had my white interior. How are you liking the drive?

Stiglet....no, just no. Can't see the resemblance at all (although I did have an XKR-S exactly like that this time last year and, dated telematics and dashboard design aside, it really was very good).

Lovely car, love the colour. I would have had this colour on my M135i if it was an option.

Either way just to let you know I received my M135i last week and it did infact have the new iDrive controller. So I wouldn't be very happy about it!!!

Thanks thumbup Yes, the colour is incredible when the sun is shining on it!

I've just ordered a 135i to get the bigger knob too wink

I've managed to get over the M6 not having it - the system fitted feels pretty cutting edge to me anyway.

Apologies for the bump, but I came across this thread after I purchased this very car. Picked her up on NYE, chuffed to bits. Absolutely adore the spec, well done.

Car has been really well looked after... credit to you and the second owner Palmball!
