So, the saga continues....

Ive been quoted, 527inc VAT
507inc VAT
250inc VAT

How on earth can prices vary by more that 50 %

The £250 service is at a dealership that is only 40 miles away from the most expensive one.

Its crazy really, because Im likely to take my new car to the cheaper dealer, and then guess who im going to think about buying my next car from.....

Not the ultimate driving experience.
Can you name these dealerships?

I'm not too far from you so I will have to get the same service in April/May!

Thanks, North oxford one is only 50 miles from me! Tring is 36 miles and watford 25 miles....but I think £250 is not a bad saving for an extra 50 miles.

So North Oxford came back to me with a new price of £308

Tring Service team will not match the price.

I have written to the sales team asking them if they'd like to keep me as a customer, will wait to hear back...

Yawn....

How come they upped the price? Mistake?

Yup mistake on their part.

These are the actual costs.

Standard scope £22
Running in check £88
Oil filter set £19.20
Engine oil £134.30
Differential oil £21.86

Total £285.36
Including VAT £342.43

But they matched the £308 quoted by North Oxford.

I was told the supplying dealer will/should do this for free even if contract hired

That's over £19 per Litre for the oil (including VAT).

You can get the Edge Professional BMW LL04 0W-30 from MOTO-OIL for £13 per Litre, that would save you about £40 and leave you half a bottle for top ups. The F10 M5 takes 8.4 Litres for an oil change.

Do they let you bring you own oil? is it the done thing?

Some do, some don't. They don't let you do it for the fixed price 'Value' services but no reason why they should not if they have broken the price down for you like that.

In all honesty Im not fussed about them making a few quid on oil, what I am fussed about is, and frankly annoyed by is being charged 200quid over the odds, or least the 1st quote was that.

Its been sorted now.

So less whinging about a couple of hundred quid and more about what a great car the m5 is. Just been out for a drive now, it does go sideways in the wet... ;-0

Thats interesting, where did you hear that? I believe it is not included in our deal through Eastern BMW.

It was included as part of my deal but I suspect it's not a given and has to be negotiated.

Just booked in for the running in service in 2 weeks. Been quoted £390 at BMW Maidstone, anyone had a cheaper quote in Kent/London?

Reviving this thread. Just been quoted £350 by Vines in Guildford (supplying dealer). I suppose that's the downside of running an M - seems to be a licence to charge silly money for an oil change.

Anyone got closer to £300 in Surrey?

To be fair its a bit more than an oil change, the stuff they use to run in comes out like dishwater apparently. That said, I'm surprised none of you lot went for the service deal, isn't it £1k for 3 years?
