I'm on a 2 year lease, so it's likely to be one running in service and one more at approx 10-15k. I can't see how the car would need the second big service before 20k miles are up. If it did, the service package would be a no brainer.

I have just had 1,200 mile service and now every time I start the car, it tells me that the service is due in 15,000 miles! Can I get rid of this?

No, and it gets lower and lower until you need to book it in!

Thanks - it's mildly irritating...

Has anyone managed to get a good price from cooper Thames ditton? Or to get them to match another dealership

Seems my other option is vines Guildford for £330

It's odd that Vines Guildford quoted you a different price (£350 to me). I guess it must be an estimate rather than a fixed price (though why this can't be a fixed price service, I have no idea).

Do you mean you've asked them and got a bad price? Or you've yet to ask?

I'd also like to know as I got mine from Thames Ditton.

Anyone tried Berry Chiswick or BMW Brentford?

Hadn't asked, but booked it in today, pleasantly surprised at £362

That's not bad, better than North oxford given the distance. Was availability easy or did you have to book weeks out?

These prices and indeed the variations are astonishing. I own an M135i so nowhere near M5 performance but I love the M5 and what it represents. Do any of you guys tire of the astronomical costs associated with running the M5? Even although the performance offered is immense, I can't help but think I'd want something that offers high performance (not at the level of the M5 granted) but without the extreme running costs...but perhaps that's because I'm missing the point and can't afford an M5??

Seriously, I didn't buy an M5 and expect Fiesta running costs.

I'm averaging 18mpg, associated running costs but I accept it's a supercar in every sense of the word.

It amazes me just what a fantastic all round package it is, it's bloody amazing (albeit you become accustomed to the power pretty quickly).

Similar running coats to a 911 et al and providing you go in with your eyes open you'll be fine.

It's not that bad, you can have the 3 year service pack for £1K and running costs on say brake pads are not that bad, I have done 6K miles and it says 90K miles left on them, that will mean I never change them.
Mine does NOT use any Oil so no Oil between services, what else " tyres " they seem to be lasting 20k miles for most who don't track or rip the arse out of 1st and 2nd.
So all good.
Mine has averaged 23.5MPG from day one over 6K miles.
It could be better but I did not buy it to crawl around in.
PS) I live out of town, so not much town crawling.

Ran an R35 GTR FOR 3 years, now that was scary on running cost, makes the M5 look like very reasonable by comparison

I got 27mpg on a motorway run at the weekend and wasn't even trying. Pleased with that.

By the way, do fellow M5'ers have a service book? My car hasn't come with one - the supplying dealer tells me it is all kept electronically and there are no service books any longer - seems odd to me??

That's exactly what I was told this morning when I dropped off my car at Vine's. No physical book, only electronic. Seems a bit weird (and a nice way for BMW to disincentivise owners from opting out of the dealer network when the car is out of warranty).

I got one with the LCI, but as you say "all on computer now, no need of the book.
