I do love this ethos. Everyone wants the latest 35 speaker system, electric everything, etc which all adds that little debated thing called WEIGHT.

I'd love to see comparisons between base spec cars and "fully loaded" ones. I bet some push 50kgs more.

I bet my M5 is a couple of hundred Kg's more than it could be!

Sign of the times and people want luxury, gizmos, handling and speed.

Yes a stripped CSL is ~30kg lighter to a fully loaded CSL (xenon, aircon, radio-cd, alarm, rain sensor).
At 1385kg is a big issue smile

That's the sort of stuff I appreciate. On a much lesser scale, I did tick several boxes but none were heavy options.

Seems to me that if a REAL M-Car owner has been to Tenerife, the fake ones have been to Elevenerife . . .

Hi-Fi in an M car . . . hahahaha you gotta laugh.

The M135 isn't an M car as per BMW, but quite a lot of M car owners past and present have them and rate them highly so I see no reason why there shouldn't be threads about them in the M section.

I'll be ordering a new car in the autumn and will be testing a M235i if they're aren't doing decent deals on the new M3 by then.

Can anyone who already has one, tell me what the standard sound system is like?

I would of thought with there being 2 choices of upgrade, the standard would be pretty poor?

Thanks.

My 3 series has the standard stereo, and it's a vast improvement over the old E90. It can be a little indistinct at low volume, but it's very good once set a little louder.

I went for the HK package and it is good, zero distortion on DAB upto uncomfortable levels. I've had standard BMW stereo fit on other cars and frankly, it is a bit puny.

This is why Vlad has an M135i and not a proper M. Comes on a thread about M cars and starts yapping about stereos. I think he may have missed the point of an M car somewhat. It's ok though as he can fit his dog in the back.

Was kind of wondering myself how a thread debating whether an M135i is a proper //M-car has managed to descend into "What Hifi?"

HK and DAB here. Frickin' awesome. If you can't afford to spec it up new, buy a used M135i.

Stereo is important, or you can't hear the fake engine sound effects properly.

When I bought our 335d a while back I looked at the 335i but there seemed to be all sorts of issues from coil packs to HPFPs. I know plenty who have had issues with that engine and it put me off.
I hung on for a year with the M135i to see if the engine was reliable; it seems it is and do are the late 335is with the N55 engine.
You might be lucky but while I was happy to run a 335d outside warranty, I don't think I'd do the same with an N54 engined 335i.
Best thing to do is speak to a good BMW technician (I know a few) and see what they think.
FFS the M power forum is not the place for talking about 335d and 335i never mind the ttting m135i.

FFS not this again.

And anyway, that's coming from a man with a diesel Audi with "s-line" trim! biggrin

Thats my wife's car. I'm not sticking an R in front of the s-line badges. If she was a BMW fan I'd have bought her an M135i for going to the shops in.
