Go with 18's. I had CS 19's (same rears as CSL but 8" wide fronts) and swapped to 18" Apex ARC-8s. The ride is better, cheaper tyres and imo 18's look better.

Each to their own I guess but I prefer the look on 19's, especially the CSL/CS style.

Any chance you still have your CS 19's taking up space in your garage and you'd be willing to sell?

Running 18's requires the car to be lowered to pull it off imo

Alas as its a CS I need to keep the wheels for resale really

What he said! I ran mine on standard 19"s and CSL 19"s, the front end felt much more positive with the CSL rims, they are 1/2" wider and have a different offset. However the best set up was standard 18" rims with 10mm spacers on the front, decent ride and great handling (and cheaper tyres from what I can remember)

Had my 19" re-done in Diamond Black which was the closest to original but painted finish I could find. These are running winter tyres and are currently on the car, because I wish to sell it soon and...

Also have a genuine set of CSL's shed in Goodyear Eagle F1's that may be worth more off the car.

Coincidence did you buy these from a chap in Leeds by any chance?

Are replica CSL's considered unsafe?! - Surely, as long as you're buying from a proper trading company then their products must be tested etc to be road worthy. Maybe (purely speculating here!) they're not up to track punishment and don't have the tolerences of genuine CSL's - Is that what you're getting at??
A very brief search comes up with this on ebay

Faced the same dilemma recently. Was told by a few places not to go the diamond cut (original) route because the finish would not last and the guarantee would not be given. Decided to take the advice and went for a light shade of shadow chrome. Very happy with the results. Hopefully the pictures come out ok.

Hi, they look good, can you post more details on where you got them done, Tyler of finish and costs?

Got it done by Elite wheels in Reading. It takes a week and they can give you loaner wheels (18" M3) whilst the work is being done. I also got them to change the wheel nuts, centre caps and M badges. Total cost for all 4 wheels came in at £500 with all the extras.

Ah, ok. Bought mine from Cambridge. The guy had Conti's on but I've been running Eagle F1's for around 10 years so put my own on.

I put the CSL's and summer tyres back on the car last week also. It was getting too warm for my winters and had a couple of long trips coming up.

Years ago I put a set of BBS wheels on an old E36 M3 to replace the dire Alpina wheels that I bought it with. The difference in weight of each wheel was quite significant (>2kg) and this was hugely noticeable when turning into a corner.
