I think that's what it is called. The setting that is supposed to allow a bit of slip but not too much. Doesn't seem to allow barely any slip on the M3. I had set it up so in M mode it was sport + power, almost full whack on gearshift aggression and m-dynamic for the traction. I must be doing something wrong because it's not allowing me any slip at all before cutting almost all the power.

It's much better with DSC completely off hehe

Agree I never really used MDM on mine either...I found it far more enjoyable with the traction fully off...the rears don't last that long though!

The MDM set up is a nice halfway house though if you do want some security and my bro in law thought I was mad driving mine with traction off everywhere and I said why? your right foot controls what`s happening so the nanny state electronics are not really needed.

You need to be very careful with DSC fully off - if condition or road/tyre is not ideal once the backend lets go it really lets go!

You are not wrong my rear end used to slide out under braking into a corner when they were getting ready for swapping it was good fun but it could catch you out if you weren't ready for it.

Don't get me wrong, I really enjoy that feeling with DSC fully off and MDM on full blast but you'll really need full concentration to be able to control the car on public roads. I'm looking forward to do some track days when summer arrives - keeping my eye out for some nice Cups wink

The cups will be spot on...I had contis on mine and they aren't that grippy even when new but they are great when you want to play but for grip on a track its got to be cups all the way!

I have MPSS on mine now and I'm loving it for normal use. Previous car was a GTR which also had MPSS on. Brilliant tyres for our crappy weather wink

It will be getting hustled round Goodwood next month, I thought that the M-dynamic would be a nice compromise for the road but not sold so far.

I don't have the talent to drive it with the DSC off...that is the truth. I still feel like a racing driver at full attack though....like today....racing..erm.....remapped Tdi VAGs and 350Z Nissans.

I have a long section of slippery shiny cobbled road with 3 traffic lights on it for my daily school run. I find the MDM is the perfect setting for launching off from standstill with just enough wheel spin to stop taxis and 4x4s taking me out at every traffic light.
As its only obtainable through the M button settings, I sadly need to press three other buttons to get fully hardcore with the car.
Can anyone feel the difference between sport and sport plus? I frankly can't.

Don't think I've even tried the sport power mode. Not sure why it is even necessary in fact. I'm of the belief there should be two settings at most, normal and banzai, balls out full M trickery mode. Does anyone know what (if any) the power differences are supposed to be between the three modes?

There aren't any power gains its just the throttle input that changes giving you the feeling of more urgency.

I have to agree - can feel very little difference between Power and Power+ on the throttle map. I have a 2012 e92 Comp and I would disagree with the OP in that I do find MDM useful. With the DSC at standard then it all too quickly senses slip and cuts power to control traction - even to the extent that you can feel it over hump back bridges. However with the semi off MDM setting it allows a fair degree of slip and wheel spin and eliminates that traction control nannying. Not sure whether the Comp pack cars are different in that respect but that is certainly how mine works

I think I read somewhere that the Comp pack cars have a more advanced traction control set up over the standard cars so maybe MDM in those cars is the best set up of the lot.

This car is an le500 so I think it has the competition pack as standard. It would seem from what you guys are saying you can get a touch more wheel spin with the MDM on which I can see would be beneficial, if wonder if the mode is intended to let you have any lateral slip?

I like MDM. In my experience it gives a fair degree of slip before cutting in.

MDM on my CSL and E60 M5 made a big difference. It allowed the rear to move an appropriate amount for road driving and allowed for a deceng getaway form a standing start where DSC would cut the power.
