Yeah he is, I was his best man and I'm god father to one of his children, just glad he didn't kill himself that would have been hard to take when he was driving my car.

Yes mate its frightening when you think about it...it just proves the respect needed with powerful rear drive cars...can I be your friend if it means I can have a blast out in your motor when you aren't around... you sound like a top bloke to me. thumbupbiggrin

Ha! He hit a tree and it pushed the front right hand side chassis member right up to the bulkhead, he was a very lucky lad to walk from that.

You can see where the tree pushed between the engine and wing turning the wheel inside out another few inches to the left and he'd have been wearing the engine.

Back to the OP, the issue I see with turning everything off and going for it on a public road is that most roads have loads of little humps and bumps all over them and the wrong entry to a corner at speed whilst hitting one can mean trouble. On a B road you've got the length of the car to work with width wise and often it's no where near enough.

I wish the e39 had this. The DSC can be a bit intrusive but I'd still like a safety net.

I guess that's where experience comes in. What was your mate like generally at power-sliding powerful rear drivers?

I think if you know a road like the back of your hand and know the location of all drain covers, potholes, overbanding, compressions, locations where water streams from fields when it's wet etc then you must have some kind of ADD, wink but you can plan your hoon down the road much better. Of all the times I've been driving with DSC off, I've only had one oversteer moment due to a large compression mid-corner and that was in the wet on Accelera PHIs (the worst tyre known to man).

Thanks, but I don't think it's down to luck.
