My 11k 2012 M5 has dropped a load of oil on my newly laid paving slabs. A real bummer as it's normally parked on the gravel drive and wouldn't notice at all.
Anyone heard if diff oil leaks? I took a look under the car and there's a right old oily mess under there. Looks like another spell with the dealer.

I see the traits of the family have been passed on.

Do you drive the car hard? I did read once of a cracked seal but that was on a very early 2010/2011 car I believe.

Not that hard, I made use of it's performance from time to time but on a public road you can't exploit it and certainly I have plenty of mechanical sympathy. Not sure about the previous 2 owners though!

Hmmm, this is the problem. You just don't know how previous owners have treated their cars. I know I have mechanical sympathy for my M6 but the previous driver used to drive it in auto mode all the time which could not have been good for the clutch. Don't think launch control has ever been used either but who knows!

OK so how's this for customer service for an owner of one of their premium models....

Monday this week I Discover a bad oil leak from the diff, so needed to book in but need a courtesy car as have some trips planned and my Minivan's not quite as comfortable as an M5. First date they can supply car is 7th May so tried another local who also quoted weeks ahead. To be fair this last dealer suggested calling BMW Assist and get the car towed away and a hire car delivered pronto!
So, in goes my call and within about 4 hours my car's carted off to the preferred dealer. I duly waited for a hire car but nothing...so I called Assist again who haven't done anything. So eventually the hire co call me the next day and explain that no BMW's available but they will try and find one and call back. Later they called with the offer of a RAV4 which is all they've been able to find!
So, today just completed a 350 mile round trip in my Mini, had no update on my car despite TWO calls to the dealer today and yesterday and still don't know when it's going to be fixed and returned.

BMW Customer service is RUBBISH considering you are a premium marque. Rant over.....
