The first to second change is poor on the Manual gear box, not nice for heavy traffic.
Mine is a manual, and it used to be a grumpy affair. I put some Purple Synchromax in there instead and it's much better! When it goes in for its next service, I will have the clutch delay valve removed too. Apparently this improves things even further.

My E61 520d had a lovely manual gearbox in it very smooth across the board and not one bit obtrusive but that engine would have suited an auto better though, the manual gearboxes in both my Z4M/E92 M3 were not brilliant at all but you just adapted to them but the Z4M was easily the worst and 1st to 2nd did drive me mad in that! cerb4.5lee said:

My Z4M was the same, but it felt like it was entirely due to the gearbox/engine mounts allowing things to move more than they should. If cornering slightly and using high revs and changing from 1st to 2nd it was dreadful and occasionally so in a straight line too. Double declutching helped massively.
