Took me a while to get my head round it. But the amount to the left of the dot is what will be left and the amount to the right of the dot the amount that'll be used.
I think it is actually the other way round - what is to the left is what the car expects to use. So, if you just fill up and have around 400 miles of fuel left and you are doing a 300 mile journey, the dot is towards the right hand end of the gauge (about 3/4s of the way along).DB

Slightly off topic I managed 26.9mpg over 111 miles at an average speed of 64mph today which I am absolutely astonished with - I don't often see near 20mpg and my last fill was 13mpg the other day

I agree with DB, it shows what you're using to the left.

So, 50 miles on the M5, the balance on A roads.
We arrived at our destination and as we know F10 M5's are pretty rare (I hardly see any at all) and there's a very nice black one in the car park of the cottages we are staying in - anyone here on PH? Looks good, standard 19" wheels and black/black.
Anyway, thread hijack, sorry
