Need some urgent advice for my CSL - BMW warranty issue
Discussion
Yes, it is shocking. And whoever designed the boot floor of the E46 Series needs shooting. The stress and aggro of having to wait 5 months now, just for an answer re if they will repair it or not is just unacceptable.
The original iconic 1972 3.0 CSL - CSi and CSA suffer from the rear shocks punching through their top mounting turrets and up into the rear parcel shelf, because the metal is too thin and has no stiffener, if this happens at speed or in a corner then the consequences could be dire.

At least the engines are bullet/fire proof. Well, after waiting since last November ( when the car was inspected by Cooper Chelmsfords Body shop and whose customer service is just shockingly dreadful, i have lost count Just how many times i have rung them and no one ever calls back ) late this after noon i finally managed after 2 calls to speak to / have a heated conversation with their " Warranty Expert", who bless him, in no uncertain terms tells me that that BMW WONT be replacing the boot floor as our M3 only has the 6 year rot warranty........
When i point out that its Not a rot issue but a sructural design fault and that BMW replace the boot floor if its under 10 years old and inspected before its 10 years old, he refuses to accept this.
I suspect now that they will deny All knowledge of having had my car in for inspection last November.
Advise anyone ??

Definitely go to another dealer, any one which has a decent bodyshop will generally want the work from BMW. The fact that he talks about a 6 year anti corrosion warranty implies your car is now out of the 10 year goodwill period (pre04 car). I would be making sure to get back the original inspection photos showing the cracks and dated so that you can provide these for your now out of date claim.

Speak to (Darren Bridge) BMW Stockport. I made the long trip over from York and finally got surety my floor was sound. Helpful guys that know what they are doing. They may give you a different perspective on warranty. When i point out that its Not a rot issue but a sructural design fault and that BMW replace the boot floor if its under 10 years old and inspected before its 10 years old, he refuses to accept this.

There is a detailed thread of subframe friendly dealers on M3 cutters. Despite someone saying it was rubbish, I suggest you also check there.
Final tip, make sure you speak to the bodyshop rather than service department.
edit, may also be worth giving James? at Reddish a call.

Although I fully understand why you would want warranty to sort this, I fear you are only delaying it from happening again.
If none of the warranty claims are successful, I'd consider investigating getting the area strengthened, rather than getting it returned to standard.
After having mine done I was told to return every 12 months for checks of the affected panel as so long as there is an annual check BMW will honour any further work needed during the next 10 years. If none of the warranty claims are successful, I'd consider investigating getting the area strengthened, rather than getting it returned to standard.
So, if it cracks again they will replace again.
Given that the rest of the car will have dissolved like a Berocca by the time that period is up I think that's fair enough.

WOW, that's impressive. If they can do this for you, why is there so much hassle over this issue? If they are not careful, they could get themselves a really good name for aftersales customer care!
It all depends on the dealer you use. Some are happy to have the warranty work on their ramps and so will do all they can for you with BMW UK, others seem to prefer not.
While mine was in they also got authorisation and did the repair to rust at the base of the front wing which I had been told by another dealer would be rejected as being likely to have been caused by stone damage.
Sytner Oldbury in case anyone's interested.
