Always liked the Z3 M Coupe's and seen a steady rise in values but seen two recently at Sytners, one done 21,000 at £43k.....! which SOLD within a week or so and another for sale now done 23,000 for £39,995.....! Looks like they are going to follow the M3 CSL's....?

Sytners prices are for the select few.....those with less time than most and more money than sense.

I liked the looks of the Z3 M Coupe but it wasn't that good, I can't recall exactly how many years ago I drove one but I clearly recall that was a big delusion. E46 M3 maybe looks less sexy but it is way better to drive.

£40k is plain crazy price...

Have to agree as good as it looked it was flawed in so many ways.

Why did you start to use zeros in the subject, but then change to 'Os'?

Wow. A few mods can make this car very rewarding to drive. I have a Z3 M Coupe with Schnitzer suspension and a strut brace. Really enjoy driving it and have more fun in it than my E46 CSL!

Have to agree with all of you tbh. Out the box they really weren't much cop in the handling stakes, but a few choice modifications made mine a fantastic drive. I personally went for KW V3's, H and R anti roll bar and a strut brace. The ARB made a big difference.

Yup, best changes I've made to mine are Bilstein b8 all round, 30mm lowering springs, H&R ARB and a braided clutch hose (Couldn't justify the cost of KW V3 or I would have had those). Each one made a noticeable difference in the feel of the car.

Still wouldn't pay 40k though, I seem to have struck it lucky and got mine just before prices started going up a bit.

I don't think this really has that much to do with how amazing they were or were not out of the box. Fact is, they are very unusual, very rare indeed(less than 170 RHD's with the S54 engine) and have a real charm about them.

I wouldn't pay 40k either, but they are certainly a good 20% more than they were a few years ago.

As a matter of interest, what are the gear ratios in these - I know they're only 5 speed as the 6 speed from the E36/46 didn't fit - but is final drive the same in the Z3 as E36/46 M3? i.e. does 5th in a Z3m equate to 6th in an M3, or 5th - and if so are they under geared...?

Is that one at Parkway even a S54?

Either way, low mileage is always king when it comes to collectors motors

I can't answer your question but I can offer this up, maybe it'll help.

5-speed 'boxes are generally direct 1:1 ratio in 4th with 5th being an overdrive gear. 6-speed 'boxes are generally direct 1:1 in top, so I'd expect the final drive ratios to he quite different between the two cars, with the 6-speed car having a lower ratio than the 5-speed.

Gt's tend to sell via word of mouth really.
