Ignore the outdated price guide obviously.

Cam chain is an expensive job to replace but the horror stories that used to go around about weakness etc are rubbish. A spark plug tool is a handy tool to have but I just ground down a deep, thin wall socket. BMW have started re selling the specific tool, although they're hardly Snap-On quality.

Front wheel bearings are expensive but you can buy e28 items and swap the ABS rings over and save cash. Dealership prices aren't always as spiteful as you might imagine though. There are several specialist suppliers and websites like s14.net and s14power are full of information and good advice. That said, there a people on this thread who know most stuff and have always been willing to offer relative novices like me advice.

not sure what to make of this example in the classifieds, seems a bit of a confusing advert, but super low miles.

That car looks very nice, but it is a Japanese spec car. Jap delivered cars generally are not as sought after as European spec cars, so £55,000 seems very expensive. The main difference is that the Jap spec cars did not come with a dogleg gearbox and instead came with a regular gearbox like the US spec cars.

On the plus side, as it is a Jap car, it has probably been well looked after and should have little or no rust.

On face value the car certainly has a lot going for it, I love the idea of a non sunroof shell and the engine rebuild definitely adds to the appeal in my opinion, others may prefer originality. The advert seems very honest and the car fairly priced in today's market. ( Didn't a RHD converted Evo 2 just sell for circa 50k?) The big question that I presume most people will want to know is how bad that rot is....

Either way it makes a nice change to see a detailed advert, good luck with the sale, I can't see it hanging around for too long.

Interesting car, and will no doubt get quite of bit of interest from people either looking to flog it on for another £15K on top of your prices, or maybe since the pound crashed, someone from either the US or Europe looking to import. The issue with the filler neck sounds a bit iffy though, something I'd want sorted before I took it ideally or immediately after.

Quite possibly one of the worst written adverts I have ever seen.

And nine services in thirty years does not make a "superb" service history!

The advert also says it has a dog leg box, so maybe a Euro spec build then imported in to Germany.

I'd agree with that, in the current market, it is probably one of, if not the cheapest for sale in Europe.

I've had offers around that for my '88 UK car, in storage for 10+ years and needing restoration.

I'm getting close to biting and letting the potential buyers come and take it as welleek

Last time I saw one of these at £35k was a few years ago at KGF, Milano Red and it sold within hours iirc.

Recent auction prices are pitching Evos at £50k plus, so there's £15k to throw at this one which is easily enough to sort out the issues described in the very honest description.

Someone will get a very nice buy.

*** Thanks for all the interest in this car which is now sold and staying in the UK. Apologies to anyone whose call or message I did not respond to but I must have had 100+ enquiries between 8pm & 6am last night. Existing owners might be interested to learn that I did get the price wrong (!) and it did sell for comfortably more than the asking price stated above ***

I hope the seller got the market price for the car and that the car has gone to an enthusiast.

It would sicken me if a dealer bought it and flipped it 2 days later for £55,000 after having done nothing to the car.

That car was for sale for over a year at another dealer for £75k and didn't shift.

The M3 badge on the boot is not in the correct place.

I would love an M3 but for £50k odd, there are plenty of other cars I would buy instead.

Bit of a shame TBH.

How can an entire car be condemed due to a misplaced badge!

Perhaps it was removed to do a paint detail?

Wrongly or rightly, you'd be amazed just how much suspicion (of something dodgy) this detail can cause. My old car didn't have the badge at all so was obviously rear ended at some point! hehe

At £75k though, put it in the right place.

Some experts have never heard of factory option '320', Model Designation, Deletion.

Agreed, it's all in the detail at that sort of money.
