If you want one, find a good one and pay what you need to within reason, any minor perceived overspend will correct itself in no time at all. The trick though is to understand what you're looking at. Pay good money for a good one, pay low money for a poor one but not good money for a poor one ! There are no bargains anymore and no-one is naively sitting on a car they don't know the value of. I sold my Evo2 at a price which everyone thought was too low - it needed £30k spending easily (and £40k+ if I'd wanted to go mad) but I'd still be left with a high mileage, modified, imported car which I didn't think would be worth £70k+. Another thing, don't mess about when you see one you want - I advertised mine at 9.30pm on a Sunday evening and had received 130 phone calls from Oz, Canada, Europe, UK by 6am the next morning....

This car has been advertised for a long time now, he just puts the price up every month. Started off at 32k I think.I think he may like to stroke his ego by demonstrating how much it is worth to his acquaintances (I hesitate to say friends and family as I imagine him as single and often locked away in a dark room because people in the part of the world where the car is located wouldn't pay $5k for it..never mind $50k. All very odd..

He is a very weird fellow. I spoke to him and he says he has no intention of selling it and as you say he just keeps increasing the price.

I'm not sure why he advertised it if it's not for sale. But has been advertised for a while now. At the end of day it's his car so can't say much really. Good luck with his car and what he wants to do it.I think he may like to stroke his ego by demonstrating how much it is worth to his acquaintances (I hesitate to say friends and family as I imagine him as single and often locked away in a dark room because people in the part of the world where the car is located wouldn't pay $5k for it..never mind $50k. It was actually offered to me way back in May 2016. But I had just bought my own E30 M3 the month before and also an E34 M5 in the same month, so I my appetite was marginal at that time shall we say.
Apparently it was originally a white car and then repainted.
Late car on K plates. Low £20K's
It has been sold though but I think underneath its looking pretty bad indeed.
There is a story to this car, its id states that it was a Sterling silver car originally but this car has never been any colour other than diamond black.........It was actually offered to me way back in May 2016. Hi mateThanks for this information.
I am currently looking for a e30 m3 at the moment and I don't want to end up with this one as it don't sound right with colour not matching the ID. Can you disclose the reg please or if anyone has the reg to disclose it please.
Thank you

Anyone know this car? Seems odd it hasn't sold. The non OE stuff is easily sorted surely?

Are you sure its that easy?..houndstooth seats (2k), wheels and tyres (1.5k), gearknob are tough to source, add exhaust (1.5), lights , mirrors and you must be looking at 7 to 8k GBP..before you even get into any other works.. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BMW-E30-M3-Euro-AK05-158...

Yes, you could spend a few quid if you wanted 100% OE but you could de chav it for considerably less. The lights, mirrors etc are easily sourced and you could probably recoup the cost selling the stuff you replace. Regular E30 sports seats from a 318is would be a vast improvement and exhaust back box is all that's required. OE wheels look too small anyway, so I'd swap out those rims for style 5's or Compomotives. Bottom line is you'd have a much nicer looking car for pretty minimal effort. Given how many people say they're looking for an M3, I'm just surprised nobody has bought it, especially with white cars fetching a premium? I just wonder if there are other more serious issues?
I agree - assumed it didn't have a dog-leg box or something like that...10 months and £20k later......it's back:
Quite sobering to think that this was a running, driving and perfectly presentable/usable car before it went in and that the work only included a small amount of engine work - had this been a full engine rebuild and maybe gearbox, clutch, exhaust, new glass, electrical components, tyres, interior/dashboard refurbishment plus more body panels, I can easily see how you could spend £40k+ restoring one of these plus the price of a donor vehicle. The car is still some way off concours but I wouldn't be ashamed to take this to any show or pop the bonnet. The engine work has made a big difference.
An unexpected tax bill, £5k more than I expected for the work plus the sale of my Cayman R falling through and I'm a little more skint than usual but I'm going to tough it out for now and keep it. Looking forward to taking it to the Nurburgring in August....

Lovely evo mate. After spending all that money I should think you should keep it aswell. Just keep on top of it mate after spending all that money. Bring it to a couple of shows in the summer down south it will be nice to see it there and if I find one by then I will park next to you 😀.Quite sobering to think that this was a running, driving and perfectly presentable/usable car before it went in and that the work only included a small amount of engine work - had this been a full engine rebuild and maybe gearbox, clutch, exhaust, new glass, electrical components, tyres, interior/dashboard refurbishment plus more body panels, I can easily see how you could spend £40k+ restoring one of these plus the price of a donor vehicle. Imagine the reaction to that on this thread..ooh the third washer on the lower wishbone arm has the wrong zinc coating..it must be a Japanese m3..burn it..put it in a lake and see if it floatsCaymANTH said:

The problem with looking to buy a car with a limited budget is you're unlikely to have the luxury of choice when it comes to colour. There are limited cars available anyway, so discounting them because of colour isn't the best thing to do in my opinion. I'd suggest being more concerned with condition than anything else and if you can find a decent car within price, get it bought, no matter what colour! Otherwise prices might continue to rise and you might never get an M3, down to colour.
People used to discount tracked M3 for similar reasons, but limited supply means even that changed.

Hi all
Last night I purchased my e30 m3 which is now my 16th car to my collection.
The colour is black and I purchased it for 21.5k. It will need some work doing to it as it is a 30 year old car. But good thing it has been garaged most of its life.
In the last 4 months two of my mates have purchased them for 20k and when I came on this thread you made me loose all my confidence when I set the budget as £20-30k. Then I set it as no budget as I was going over the 30k mark and to sacrifice a couple of cars if I had to. Im glad I didn't spend over 30k on a car which needs work on and I found a good one with little work for 21.5k.
Like Cayman said pay good money for a good one and poor money for a poor one but some people want 35k for a poor one and then spend more to get it right.
So whoever is looking for one don't pay good money for a poor one as you will find one but takes abit of time
Thanks
