Nice car though, I was there and if I'd been in the market I'd have bid on it. Looks better value at £109k to me than a normal M3 at £40k-£50kLegacywr said:

Car failed to sell at auction today................
They had an offer £90k plus buyers fee. Dealers have valued it in the £120k region.

The coffee cup I'm currently drinking out of. I estimate it's value at £2K (tbf it is from M&S )

Too many period mods to be collectable I think...
The Sport Evo ? Seriously ? Don't like any of that Schnitzer tat, but it all bolt on stuff you'd make more money selling to fit genuine replacements. The mirrors looked particularly tossy btw

I can't say I'd pay £100K plus for an E30 , mainly because I don't have it. Some will and probably still make money if they are confident prices will hold or go up. I think i'd spend £40K on an Aston Martin V8 Vantage and pile the miles on that and enjoy it.

I guess it all comes down to what people want from their car? I did think about selling mine but the only things that interest me are either a track prepared 911, a Noble or an Ultima, of which none are are going to come in at circa £40k. I'm not sure that they would match up to the E30 M3 anyway, even if they were faster? I'd also need to factor in running cost and maintenance, as well as the consideration that they are cars I really know nothing about. I suppose the E30 M3 is just an old 3 series to many, albeit one with an incredible history and iconic status amongst 'classic cars'. There are lots of cars where those that aren't fans might question their market value. Anything air cooled and Porsche for a start, or some 70's Alfa Romeo? It all comes down to individual choice and the E30 M3 seems to be one of those cars, where owners are often smitten and either prepared to pay for their 'fix' or not tempted to part with cars they bought before prices rose to todays level.
I did think about swapping to a more modern M3 too (e46), but by the time I had bought a decent example, upgraded the brakes, suspension, seats, fitted a cage, changed the wheels/tyres etc, I would have spent almost as much as been left with a less valuable car, albeit a quicker one. Added to which, I'm probably too much of a BMW fanboi to seriously look at alternatives from other manufacturers.

Non gen but I believe these guys do carbon side skirts. I haven't seen second hand genuine ones for sale in ages.
