Also some ads remain after the sales.

As per Warsteiner, although it's nice that values increased, I wouldn't be without mine if it was worth a few hundred quid.

Cars are worth different amounts to different people I guess? What else I could have for the money isn't an issue, although I have had a look sometimes. In fact, I sold a previous M3 to scratch an itch, regretted it and bought another. Not a mistake I will make again.

Values are set my the market and I think Barney @ Classic Heroes has been around these cars to know it better than most. He's probably sold more than most too.
ah yes Classic heroes.... Good old Munich Legends in the old days. Their cars were always over priced and not forgetting the horror stories of exploding engines if you don't replace the chain.

each to their own and if your happy to pay the price for one of these cars good luck to you, you won't regret it, they are great machines. But at current prices I'm oot

In fairness, I don't think it was just them that repeated the supposed dangers of worn timing chain. I think just about every motoring journo' of the time, said the same thing and it was those horror stories that helped keep values so low. I agree with you re pricing amongst the 'dealers' though. Unfortunately some of these dealers are selling pretty poor cars, with top drawer mark up too!

I've never quite got why the SE is so vastly more expensive than the lesser cars though? I know the differences and limited numbers, but even so. Is the actual driving experience, between the two models, really so different?

I don't think the driving experience was that different, I've drove both.. although the se was modified with different engine management and high lift cams.... so it was hard to compare.
the repeated dangers always in magazines always seemed to quote one sales company and their mechanics who always had a few of of the M3's for sale :-). I had the chain done on mine purely because it was very rattly and replacing the tensioner didn't fix the issue.

i'm on my third e30 m3.
as a current owner i'm happy with how the prices are, and i don't think they've peaked yet, far from it.
but i dont care what happen's with the market or prices, as i dont plan, or want to be without one, even if the market crashed
and they ended up only being worth a grand.
I wish it would so i could buy 10!

Needs a Porsche badge for values to get any higher.

CSL price increases seem to have slowed down.

That JC racing 2.5 is the car that i looked at for a bit - i think its probably one of the best around if thats what you are in the market for, would make a nice B1 SMRC car too with a few additional bits!

I have hankered after an e30 M3 for a long time now, turned down a 14k one a few years ago, it was really really good with a fresh engine rebuild by a specialist, i thought it was too expensive at the time, which it probably was - but the same car now would probably be worth 10k more.

so many chancers in the market, but they are succeded in pushing the price up!

I could have bought the car with the JC Racing engine from JC Racing back in '09, for £8500eek

It's had a lot of money spent on it since then, engine, paint etc.

I wanted the car, but didn't have the funds, then heard that the engine blew after it was sold, so felt i'd had a bit of an escape.

Here it is from back in '09.

Oh, and it had/has a cheaper OMP cage, not the Safety Devices one advertised....

At least you dodged an engine re-build if nothing else!

Very nice, but the prices asked really are getting a little bit mental nowlaugh

I'm happy, as I have mine tucked away, but realistically, the market price increase is of no benefit.

I can't sell, as in a couple of years, i'd never be able to replace them!

This is my first one, sold in about '98-99 for £4500, I was happy as I only paid £3300 for it!

I wonder what it would be worth now....

And here it is on a transporter, off to Ireland to be converted in to a rally car!eek

And I have some interesting photos of cars that have been advertised/sold over the previous few months.

I bet the owners would be a little bit surprised at the earlier histories of their carswhistle

What someone thinks they are worth and what someone will pay are two different things.

Some of these people are absolutely crackers if they think someone will pay £80,000 + for an old M3.

I agree the price of that Evo II is a bit mental, a very similar mileage EVO II sold for £65,000 a few months ago, the seller is just upping the price further to see who bites. Easier to bring a price down than it is to put it up.

The fact that the E30 M3 is LHD has a lot to do with prices, much bigger worldwide market for them.

Amspeed have a really nice early car available for £24995. It's white too, which usually costs a bit more.
