Miss my Cecotto, hadn't realised there were so few of them. Sold it for £8k in 2001 bought a Chimaera.
Reading what I've written it is a bit misleading, there were only 25 Ravaglia models, there were 480 Cecottos.

As for the ebay car sold for £23K was the relisted, now it's supposedly sold for £30K, lets wait and see if it gets relisted again.

That ebay car is 'sold' for 30k
Cheap for a car that doesn't work!

what could it possibly be worth recommissioned?
And how much does it cost to re omission - plus will it ever be a valuable as a car which was in great condition from new to date.

I know of someone with a 1987 71,000km Jap imported E30 M3 in Diamond Schwartz who is interested in selling. It's completely standard and mint with FSH - how much do you reckon it's worth?

Jap cars can be a bit of a funny spec, does it have a dogleg gearbox?

That alone will put many buyers off. That said, there is bound to be someone who'd prefer more relaxed motorway speeds.

Body condition is paramount. It might be a rare homologation special but it'll rust as badly as your average 316! Add to that the cost of things like wheel bearings or a top end engine service and you can soon find yourself with some hefty bills, which will effect the price folk will pay.

In the past year I've seen what were £15k cars reach £25k+ and they still seem to be rising. The good ones sell quickly too! I'm sure if you could get pics and more detail re spec, there are folk here who know far more than I, who could give a better idea of value.

Japanese market E30 M3's can be little gems but as with all E30 M3's need checking very carefully. They are very seldom seen at auction in Japan these days and when they do come up they attract alot of attention and buyers often get into a bidding war even for ropey examples...

You seldom see them getting spanked along mountain roads nowadays.

I saw an Evo recently sold for £65k at a dealer. I wonder how many people would know the difference from the seat of their pants?
If I had some mountains I'd spank, but I have to make do with surrey country lanes !!

Nice examples but I've never really got why the Evo models command so much more money? I realise they're rarer and a bit more powerful but 3 times the price? (of a regular M3)

Looks like both the SE are sold and the Cecotto made £40k at auction.

This is depressing. Turned down a Ravaglia when I was looking for an M3 , a damaged Evo for £6K not so long ago, and couldn't quite stretch the extra £4K a Sport Evo was over base models were years ago when buying my car.
Always knew they would be worth more, but Sport Evo's in 6 figure numbers ...wow ! When a nice stock restored car is £30K , that's a big difference when in reality they drive no different.

Years ago I was at a BMW show at Rockingham. Some guy there had a really tatty black Sport Evo with rust on it and I heard he used it every day and for track days. Anyone know the car ? Guessing it's been restored now.

I think auctions tend to get people a bit carried away with over bidding and giving a slightly inflated price to a car compared to the cars we see on internet forum sale sections and the rest.... Although as a recent owner of an e30 m3 who sold his E46 csl to buy a minter I'm certainly not complaining! Sickening to have a receipt for my car for £6750 that was around the time I thought about buying one but bought a mk2 106 rallye instead for similar money - arrrgghhhh.
Doesn't matter though, I'm never selling the E30.

The BBS look so much better with gold centres. I had them on a black M3, but they were fully polished and looked bloody awful. Reminded me of that woman with the garish earrings from Coronation Street.

Long shot, but if anyone knows an M3 shell for sale, please shout.

M3 'barn find' on eBay, or dusty M3 as might be more befitting. So little info yet £15k bids.

Love how anything poorly maintained and in a shoddy state becomes a 'barn find' and people still expect top whack for it.t

Sceptical how a barn find M3 on German plates is being sold in the UK.
