Driven it, it's been for sale for ages (6 months +). E30zoners are critical of interior but overall I thought it was very tidy. It's on SOR and he's only a dropped the price a smidge I see..

Defo not an Evo btw! biggrin
Usually criticised by folk who've never had one, or intend buying one for themselves. The same people are the ones who'll also moan about how modifying one ruins them.
Criticised by myself and Pacerpete who has most likely owned more E30 M3's than anyone else on this thread and as you know, knows more than most about E30 M3's.

Fair points made by others though that it's easily (all be it expensive) rectified and if the rest of the car is good then not necessarily a deal breaker.
The exact quote being "It looks shiny and the lawn stripes in the carpet are nice ! BUT , the interior is tragic and incorrect , for any M3. Ignore the constipated seller. Caveat emptor."
Seemed a bit OTT for a obviously wrongly trimmed interior ( the base seats are there for correctly trimming ) without explaining the seller reference or the buyer beware bit either.

Obviously wasn't actually aiming my comments at either of you (by virtue of the fact both of you have owned cars) but have put up with lots of comments relating to my own cars, where zone members have given the benefit of their experience, after seeing a photo or reading between the lines of an advert. I advertised a car a couple of years ago, that had been subjected to significant repairs including a new scuttle, which was then accused of being a 'ringer' and most probably stolen which then impacted on the ad. All this despite my having a full photographic history, invoices and unquestionable history. Being the internet, it's easy enough to simply ignore the majority of such comment, but when you are selling and these opinions sway potential buyers, it's more than a little annoying. Were such comments useful, accurate and made by people with relevant experience, there wouldn't be a problem and that is how I view this thread. (for the most part anyway) If I were looking to buy a UK car this thread would be a help. As for pages of undeserved negative comment elsewhere? Probably not so much.

I stand by my view that the interior of the Macau car is easily rectified.

That's pacer's wit and forthright attitudes to such things.

Indeed the Internet is a fickle place and can help and hinder in equal measures.
As with any old car it's buyer beware so do your homework and I agree about the interior on the Macau car. An interior swap is much more preferable to a weldathon!

Seems a bit OTT and not needed unless you are willing to back up the comments on the vendor or the warning.

I think it's obvious why the comment on the vendor, Evo sport spoiler worth £2500.. No it's sport Evo and they are not £2500!
As for the warning, that applies to ANY E30 M3 because so many of them have a story.

Same year, spec and colour as my own. Really should get about to rebuilding it one day. Big money indeed.

This car has now been sold and bought by me!
Loads of history with the car, receipts, service etc. A full glass out respray was carried out about 7/8 years ago. All areas of typical concern on E30's was addressed then. It had been sitting with the dealer (Glenn @ GMS cars) for about a year so now needs a little external TLC but mechanically is in great health. Interior is not correct for the car but will be re-trimmed pretty soon.
Negotiated a great deal (better than I expected)! Pictures will be posted up soon.

Nice one. As has been said, it looks a nice base car from the pics, as long as the dreaded rust isn't creeping back and you did a proper inspection for such.
I've seen a few re-trimmed M3's , but very few - actually none so far - seem to be able to copy the factory leather, stitching and foam it out properly for some reason and they all seem very easy to spot. At least you have both front and rear seats to trim. I nice set of original wheels would be a good thing to have either fitted or spares. Hope you enjoy it.

While I'm here , any recommendations on a body shop that can do great work with a bare bodyshell and align the car on a jig for an inner wing replacement and possibly replace the roof for a non sunroof panel, paint, underseal and gap everything up for me to do the trim fit and rebuild , ideally in the s/e of England ? Something like this place https://www.facebook.com/RSGarage2013

Try SPR Coachworks in Hailsham, they have done a few E30's. They work with some lovely cars and are happy to show you round everything they've got in and are working on.

DJ Coachworks in Waltham Abbey did my M3 when it had to have the rear panel replaced. They also carried out some other minor repairs and painted the whole car for me. (07769 515292) There are some pictures in the readers cars thread. There is also www.pristinebodyworks.co.uk who built my e21 from a bare shell.

Thanks, both. Have spoken to a few places, but many don't seem to want to get involved more full restoration, putting the car on a jig, and getting details right like the underseal. Will add these recommendations to the list and keep them in mind.

Speak to Kieran @ Harpenden Classic & Performance.

http://www.hcandp.co.uk/index.php

He's currently restoring a fairly rotten E30 325i.

Following on from E30 M3 prices going through the roof, have you noticed how the dealers are asking £10-15k+ for 325 Sports and £20k+ for Alpina/Hartge tuned cars?

Interesting to see the developments in the classic car industry, thought Porsche cars and dealers were the ones at it but seems same applies to some E30 m3 cars n dealers, lucky I have had mine near 20years now, keep thinking of changing for a 993 but after having a slow refresh for 4 years think will hang on to mine, but still curious on driving experience of the 993. Not really interested in values that much but nice to just know what's going on in the world.
