Yeah that's weird, also I thought OBD 2 wasn't fitted until 1989 or thereabouts?
Where is the reference to obd 2 on here?

Your 1986 build car seems to have the later 158kw engine ?
This is from the global bmw database at the dealer..interesting that it's showing it as 158kw. Which equates to 215 bhp.

Interesting indeed , but how so ? I don't see how it can be an 1986 build with an engine they had yet to produce. Database error Have you checked the actual engine code on the block ?

Not quite what I said and you seem to like to put words in my mouth that I haven't said. First it was that I had something against Jap spec cars when I said no such thing. I didn't declare your car Jap spec, I asked a question about the clocks on it and now why an 1986 car is listed with a 158kw engine, which is usually Sep 1989 on Euro spec, like my 1990 car or I think earlier Evo2 and Cecotto cars.
Suggesting a single database error doesn't make me an 'internet expert' or their system 'crap', because as with the ETK that has a fair few errors within it for M3s.

The engine code should be on your VIN plate on the inner wing. The engine number and code is stamped into the block here.

Engine codes are

234EA 195BHP

234S2 215BHP

245S1 2.5l

The 16" BBS wheels were an optional extra on all E30 M3 or standard to some?

How hard are they to come by?

£105k for the SE wow.
What affect will brexit have on the UK car market?

It's a long time since I learnt all this stuff when buying many moons ago, but I think Evo 2's, J/C's, Rav's, SE's came with 16's but could be optioned on late cars. I think all early cars had 15's and very early on I'm not sure 16's were available as an option.

I think, I've slept since then smile

Base model M3s after I think September 1989 ( Euro models ) had a bit of a midlife makeover and got the 215 engine, Mtech2 steering wheels, 16" wheels and a few other bits like the alloy suspension arms and I think the offset bushes to go with these. There's probably a few other bits, but its late.

Im expecting the UK car market to be more attractive to foreign buyers if anything due to the devaluation of the pound.

Where is the best place to look for spares for E30 M3's,
Is it a matter of ringing around to any BMW places your can see in the phone book?

Depends what bits you are after really. Some bit are half price and the same brand as you'd get from BMW at Euro Car Parts, others are dealer only and some are upgradeable and cheaper aftermarket.
Basic UK dealer price is expensive, but there is a couple of dealers you can order online from and get 10-15% off. C3BMW near Brands Hatch in Kent is run by a long time E30 M3 owner and is a good place to buy.
Until the exchange took a dive, buying in Germany from a specialist like Leebmann24, who only deal in genuine BMW parts, was proving to be the best bet.
