I've been hounded by a few people lately, who keep asking if i'll sell one of my M3s, so I am now seriously considering letting one go.

I obviously want the best return possible for me, and as one of my cars was a bit of a fighter in the past, with heavy track use and some minor accident damage, one potential buyer has asked if I would consider selling it as a rolling shell.

So I'd appreciate any advice on achievable prices for some of the main parts.

1. Shell with all panels, glass, suspension, hubs, brakes etc.
2. Engine complete with all ancillaries.
3. Gearbox.
4. Differential.
5. Interior (front and rear seats, door cards) in rare half leather with motorsport cloth.

I'm still torn by this, as I think spending around £5k on it could make it a nice car again, but I'll have to sell something else first to get it sorted!

Personally I would say you'll get your best return selling as a complete, s14 powered car.

The trader selling it is mistaken.

It belonged to a malaisian prince and I inspected the car at the princes U.K. Home before the current seller bought it.

Nice car but not much in the way of history and several detail that needed sorting to make it better.

Please excuse the mini hijack (it's just that I know a large number of M3 owners look here) but does anyone have, or know of, an Evo front bumper / spoiler that might be for sale? Mine has been damaged and is beyond repair.

If you can help please email or comment.

Yes.

No. Someone who posts on s14power.com has.

Don't know any second hand bits. Not sure if you are aware, but the stock front bumper skin is 440 Euro from BMW, which I guess your is with someone drilling it for the Evo2 chin spoiler. People tend to want crazy money for smashed front bumpers thinking they are £800 or so new. Even if you paid £250 for a second hand part, you are then going to burn some money paying a paint shop to prep it and do any repairs.
Evo2 chin spoilers are 400 Euro new.

BMW are saying they're NLA. Fortunately, someone local to me may have one (in the same colour!) and they're going to check tomorrow. Fingers crossed.

I see, we were driving back up from a week in Cornwall.

Mrs400 was less than interested when I saw you and realised it was a member off here.

Told her to be quiet and go back to sleep/

Ah, sorry, was going by the BMW Classic shop which is showing the base model and Evo2 as being available, but not the Evo3

Often parts are available from Classic when a dealer will say NLA. In my experience, if you can select a part from the classic web site, then it will be available. If the part has a price but you can't select it then it's probably on back order or has just gone NLA, and if there is no price then it's NLA.

I've just priced rear pads and discs for my E30 M3, OEM from local dealer £220.00 inc vat. I thought this was quite expensive. Any recommendations for other sources please?

Cambridge Motorsport have Hawk fast road versions or Ferodo I think? C3 BMW in Kent are also a great source of spares.

I'm a big fan of the stock and genuine front brake disc, they hold up very well at the track, more so even than aftermarket junk like Zimmerman crossdrilled rubbish.
On the rear though, I think just about any disc will do, ideally with a matched set of decent pads all round.
So, I'd buy a aftermarket set of discs and a full set of pads and go from there.

Not quite what I said and you seem to like to put words in my mouth that I haven't said. First it was that I had something against Jap spec cars when I said no such thing. I didn't declare your car Jap spec, I asked a question about the clocks on it and now why an 1986 car is listed with a 158kw engine, which is usually Sep 1989 on Euro spec, like my 1990 car or I think earlier Evo2 and Cecotto cars.
Suggesting a single database error doesn't make me an 'internet expert' or their system 'crap', because as with the ETK that has a fair few errors within it for M3s.

The engine code should be on your VIN plate on the inner wing. The engine number and code is stamped into the block here.

Engine codes are

234EA 195BHP

234S2 215BHP

245S1 2.5l

Hi Mr B, I intend to visit the storage facility sometime this weekend. Can this number be seen from above or does the car need to be on a ramp?

Thanks

No ramp needed, just open the bonnet. Take a torch and maybe something to wipe the surface as depending on the state of your car, it may be covered in crud or a light surface rust obscuring the numbers. The area on the block with the numbers is where the starter motor bolts to.
