I'm a big fan of the stock and genuine front brake disc, they hold up very well at the track, more so even than aftermarket junk like Zimmerman crossdrilled rubbish.
On the rear though, I think just about any disc will do, ideally with a matched set of decent pads all round.
So, I'd buy a aftermarket set of discs and a full set of pads and go from there.
ok Thanks -

I also need some help in finding a locking wheel nut to fit this. I gather there are 3 types for this car. Several available on ebay, just need to select the right one.

I don't believe they are original M3 stuff and maybe not even BMW. Unless you know which brand they are, you may well need a locking wheel nut removal tool or a socket for bolts with a rounded off head.

Strong money for both I thought, particularly the non-Evo. Also good money paid for an E36 Imola Individual (£20,350) which surprised me - wrong thread I know. Selling my Evo 1 once I get it back from ARM BMW and a similar E36 so might have to adjust my pricing strategy !

Strong money for a RHD conversion that will cost a lot to put it back to original spec.

£41k for a very average car seems crazy also.

I attended this auction on both preview & auction day, alot of folk looking over that E36 Individual, knew they'd be strong bidding,I was quite suprised to at what it made with over a 100k showing, made me wonder what a puka low miles LHD E36 M3 3.0GT would make..these E36's are one to watch.

Says it has a dog leg box? But i don't think they made a jap spec car this early in production so most likely a standard European car that went to Japan. Very expensive in either case..

Why are people paying 41K for an average car when there is this one for sale for 35k.
Something wrong with this one?

Seems to be a few cars on pistonheads for sale that are taking a long time to sell.

Looks like a USA car by the side indicators. Not necessarily a bad thing but would have a limit on value in most peoples eyes

I think this one has come up before and was a Jap spec car. Says 1 owner and looks pictured in Japan with a bit of overspray visible. Bit crappy of the dealer not to say its either Jap or US spec.

Looks like a hybrid spec as the rear bumper doesnt have reflectors etc. As usual if its rust free etc and can be made good then it may be a good buy..

And people said the company selling the 22,000 mile E36 Evo Imola Individual a year ago for £22000 were mad, not as mad as the guy who bought it and who is also probably rubbing his hands together now seeing a 100k mile car for for over £20,000. Glad mine is tucked away in the garage smile

My own car has limited history but is original and rust and accident free.

My logic is that so long as all the original unobtanium bits (uncracked dash, illuminated dog leg gear shifter, uncut rear shelf, unworn houndstooth cloth interior etc) are there then I can throw 15k into an engine and gearbox rebuild (not that its needed!) plus a recommission then this has to be better or as good as a car that's high kms but tired and with lots of invoices.

To this end i have collected all the small bits and pieces to put it back to original (e.g m tech 1 steering wheel, 15 inch alloys, stereo etc).

I will go as far as removing all suspension components and blasting and plating them to give it a concours undercarriage. I wil need to source an original exhaust and shock absorbers and rebush it all.

It will then be yhe neatest thing to a new first generation M3 and akl for less than 40k gbp

I'm the same really, mine has full history but has done over 100k and has been trackmeister'd many moons ago. It's very very honest and straight and I have tucked away a freshly trimmed black leather interior, new carpet and a few body panels in case I ever get all OEM with it. Having said that it's not going anywhere through choice, I would rather sell a lung.

That SE above is lovely....punchy price though, that's mixing it with 993turbo's, 996GT3 RS, 997GT3 RS....

I'm pleased we've clarified why this hasn't flown off the shelves. If it's as good as it's described (and let's face it, they rarely are), it makes every other car look ridiculously over-priced.
