I think you've made the right decision. The E46 M3 is a great car, but your car has slightly less mechanical grip (more fun), sensible sized tyres and also a rarity factor, which is nice. As for Porsches, they don't get interesting until you're into GT3 territory.

Had mine repainted 4 -5 years back, glass out, stripped it down myself & rebuilt it. Well worth the effort, she's no garage queen,t hough, so picking up the odd bits & pieces, but that's part of the fun.

I am also interested in the quality of the work from Nuffield, I had the front bumper re-sprayed (stone chips, lots of!) on my E46 vert on Monday by a place in Charminster that shall remain nameless as I am not 100% happy with it as a couple of small runs but I can just about live with them as not massively obvious but what has really pissed me off is the car is now covered in paint dust, feels really rough so I will need to clay it all over now to get it back to smooth frown

I'm a bit of a fussy bugger so i'll be as honest as i can.

I have a '99 T 318iS which I've owned from new. I'm having various bits of rust sorted and the whole car painted over the course of what will be a number of repair sessions. On paper it makes no sense, financially, but I'd like to think I'll have the car for as long as I live and as E36s dwindle it may even pay for itself.

Well, it's back. Spent all day fitting bits, still got sill covers and rubbing strips to do but needs a couple of fetles to sills first. Also going to fit new screen. Anyway, here's so far...

It's a lot fresher, the old paint was pretty flat and scratched/chipped.

Cheers Melv smile

Seems mad spending out on an old thing like this, but it's still just such a great car to be in.

Cheers Mark. Took it for a spin earlier, it's getting noticed even with some bits missing.

Got a couple of wee pickup bits to go back in for before the sills can go on, but it's getting there!

Thx guys, hopefully booked back in this friday to sort one little bit out then i can get on with refitting the rest of it.

Think i'm going to replace the scuttle covers too, just to bring it up a bit more. They're looking a wee bit grey and tired.
